I am watching the Arizona and Wisconsin game and went back to look at Stanley Johnson's rating coming into this year. So as a result I pulled up the Top 20 where Ike was #16. A lot of guys ranked right around Ike have been very impressive in this tournament. Not that it matters, but If players were to be re-ranked where do think Ike would place now? I'd have to think he'd be outside the Top 20? I also don't think Paul or LJ would place as highly, but maybe I'm just being a hard grader as I'm going on a limited sample size for these other freshman versus seeing our guys play every game... espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/class/2014/order/true

Stanley Johnson also averages 28 mins for the Wildcats. He stepped right into a starting role and was asked to produce a lot of offense for them. None of our freshman were really asked to assume that role but I think we were all hoping one of them would naturally step into it. Looking at that list, for a guy that average 22mins a game Myles Turner wasn't extremely impressive. Same for Cliff Alexander, plus he couldn't stay eligible. Couple of guys rated higher than Ike I wasn't overly impressed with. There are also some guys on that list that gave their teams even less than our guys.

Yea I agree about Turner and Alexander - definitely underperformed relative to their grades.

Lj Peak is going to be a monster next year. I agree. I think spending the offseason getting stronger, working on his dribble, and gaining confidence in his jumper will pay dividends.

Jessie Govan is currently playing in the state semifinals and is STRUGGLING. We will get to see him on ESPNU against Oak Hill, though 24 points in the Wings finals win.

I was about to congratulate him. Knocked off the 2-time defending state champs. He only had 3 in the semis but put on a show tonight

Needs to add a lot of strength to play in the Big East, but he showed a very nice touch and some good skills at both ends. Excited to see his Hoya career.

Alot of guys in that top 20 under performed.

On a different note, the Hoyas will likely be picked to win the league next year. So everyone has a year to get used to that expectation.

Villanova has a very good class coming in, but let's wait and see who's there and here by late May. The talking points on GU will be the question mark at 5 and will this year's frosh make the jump from inconsistent freshmen to more consistency as sophomores.

Villanova will, and should be picked to win the league next year. Hoyas will most likely be picked right behind them. As evidenced by...? The fact they return a core which was consistent for majority of the year and won the league by 4 games. They return the co-player of the year (whether he deserved that award is a totally different discussion) and as stated bring in a highly touted Jalen Brunson. They lost Hilliard and Pinkston but Hart and Jenkins should fill those slots fairly well. I agree we have a higher ceiling but they deserve to be preseason favorites IMO.

I can't think of a reason why those two have more upside than any of our freshmen. They also lose Pinkston and Hilliard (oh by the way their leading scorer and unanimous first team All-Big East). If they're the favorite it's very very close.

If they're the favorite it's very very close. Honestly and without bias, it's not very close. I would be surprised if they aren't the unanimous preseason pick. We arguably lost just as much as them in our emotional leader (and starting 2 guard) and both of our centers. We all have high hopes for the freshmen plus Govan, but from an outside perspective no one will think we are better than them going into the year...

Looking at that list I don’t think you can put 20 players ahead of him… That being said it’s still too early since a lot of those kids where playing behind upperclassmen and haven’t been able to really show what they can do. Also think LJ’s is about right. Paul’s wouldn’t be as high based on NBA potential imo
