Arcidiacono? Is David Eckstein out of eligibility?

Who votes on this? Holtmann got the rookie treatment. He was interim up until a few months ago. I agree he had the most dramatic turnaround, but Wright did a fantastic job with Nova, keeping them hungry all season and a clear top 5 team. I am not that upset or surprised he won.
I am frankly more upset about Arch making co-player of the year, that does not feel earned.

Is Arcidiacono the best defender in the country or something? I was shocked he was first team all Big East (seemed like even second would have been a stretch) and the player of the year award is just absurdly confusing.

Best line on the Villanova board in response to this unexpected award:
Not bad for a guy who is unlikely to make the philadelphia all big 5 team

Must have been an homage to Louie Carnesecca and Rollie Massimino.

These are the guys who left Otto Porter off the all-rookie team his freshman year.

Dunn and Arcidiacono co-players of the year. Pretty shocked by the latter. Undeserved but doesn't surprise me that he somehow won. 10.7 pts, 3.6 assists a game clearly deserves being the best player in the conference. Nobody else can match those stats.

Piggy-backing off that: his numbers this year are almost identical to last year when he finished only with all-BE honorable mention. His is actually less efficient this year in getting the extra .8 points per game. This selection is the most confounding in recent memory.

Not to mention that there are teams in our league on which he likely wouldn't be a starter.

The coaches vote on these if I'm not mistaken.

He might be the third best player on his own team.

We're not here to win individual awards, we're here to win championships. Here's hoping it makes 'Nova and Providence soft so that we can destroy them both.

He might be the third best player on his own team. Based on KenPom's ratings, he's not even listed in the top 5 in conference. Three of those (Ochefu, Hilliard, and Pinkston) are his teammates. So by KP's ratings, Arcidiacono isn't EVEN the third best player on his own team.

This is so genuinely puzzling. I would not have blinked at Hilliard, but Arch has got to be to worst BE POY ever by a wide margin (Dan Callandrillo, you're off the hook!) There are probably 15 mid major POY's who would take his starting spot.

He might be the third best player on his own team. Or fifth.

Hilliard's better than Arch and Henton's better than Dunn. Very strange.

Absurd that Holtmann didn't win Coach of the Year.
