So after we lost to Wisconsin, I made a bet with an obnoxious Wisconsin fan who proclaimed that they'd win 32 games while we'd fail to win 22. I insisted we place bets on both win totals. Naturally, I had no idea the BE would be the 2nd best conference in the land or that the entire Big Ten would be Hot Garbage incapable of beating the Badgers. What is the board consensus? Am I screwed on both bets? Will we split? Wisconsin is 25-2 with 4 regular season games remaining, plus the possibility of 3 games in the Big Ten tournament. We are 18-8, with 3 games left, plus the possibility of 3 in the BET. Obviously each are likely to get 1 NCAA game for starters, Wisconsin you can probably guarantee at least 2 games. I think our 2 less games than usual is going to bite you here.

How sweet will it be when we beat Wisconsin on a rematch even if they get to 32!

Yes, beating them would be sweet..and is not impossible. But , quite honestly, a tourney win over Upstate South Carolina Tech would thrill me this year.

From ESPN's Bubble Watch:
"Early in the season, Georgetown looked much better than its record or per-possession performance suggested. It was a weird, unusual phenomenon, but you got the feeling the Hoyas could be really dangerous if Josh Smith, D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Jabril Trawick and freshman stud Isaac Copeland put it all together. By and large, they have. The results haven't always followed -- the Hoyas are just 4-8 against the top 50, after all -- but all their losses have come against teams ranked 30th or lower in the RPI. Their own low-20s RPI number, as well as insane schedule figures (top-five overall, top-10 noncon) attest to as much. The Hoyas are unlikely to secure higher than a No. 6 seed. However, with just three regular-season games left to play and only one chance (at home vs. Seton Hall) to ruin that elite-defeat streak, Georgetown is officially a lock."
Pretty much agree with all of that. Obviously, we can be better than a 6 seed by winning 3-4 more games, but not so sure it is likely.

I agree that we are a lock for the tournament. As for the 6 seed, my sense is that winning the next three and making the finals at the Big East Tournament would be enough for a 5, at least. The ideal situation for us is to get to Saturday playing Villanova. If we win, it's another high quality win that helps, if we lose, we were supposed to lose and it doesn't hurt our seeding. Under that scenario, you'd have to think we'd also be at least a 5, if not a 4 (assuming we win 2 of the next three).

I think we will be slight underdogs against SJU and Butler, though, and perhaps underdogs against a QF opponent in the BET. As others said, the fact is that our best road win is against a 75th ranked-RPI team. We have to prove otherwise.

No way we would be a #6 seed. Not sure where ESPN is getting that.

PLEASE don't say things like "we are a lock..." or "we have this game in the bag..." - just please don't

Seed doesn’t matter, matchup does…
Hoping for some good pairings this season, that is all

PLEASE don't say things like "we are a lock..." or "we have this game in the bag..." - just please don't I never said we were a lock to win anything. I just feel like we could lose the next three games and first round at the Big East Tournament and still make the tournament, which is why I said we were a lock for the tournament. I think there's a tendency to overestimate the bubble. 10-8 with our strength of schedule and RPI is easily a tournament-worthy resume. Now, whether we win or lose in the NCAA tournament is a whole other story. There are no certainties there.

I think our 2 less games than usual is going to bite you here. I think both teams will go over. Wisconsin losing last night definitely helps. Now they can't get to 32 without winning out through the B1G plus getting to the 2nd round of the tourney, or, if they drop 1 more before the NCAAs, they have to go to the Sweet Sixteen. I would say two more pre-NCAA losses are a possibility, meaning they would need to get to the Elite 8 to win 32. As for the Hoyas, I really need that win on Saturday.

It would be so Georgetown to get a good seed and play a potent but underachieving #12 seeded Texas in the first round.

How about this q since we likelihood will be a 5 or 6 seed: what potential 11 or 12 seeded team is the matchup most favorable for the Hoyas?

It would be so Georgetown to get a good seed and play a potent but underachieving #12 seeded Texas in the first round. With Texas's guard play I would love that matchup. They were originally a team that I wouldn't want to matchup with because of there length but there guards make horrible decisions. Just imagine a team with Aaron and LJ running the point full time. That's Taylor and Holland. IMO
