Not to be cynical but we would definitely be helping any on-campus arena plans involving PE senior if we bring his son into the fold and turn his college bball experience into a positive one. Even if it doesn't pan out like that....the more contact with the past champions, the more overlap the better: for media exposure, alumni involvement, etc. Besides this isn't the long forgotten step son of a former great who we'd be taking pity on Nay, this is the ultra-athletic, long, tenacious defending, rebounding scion of the greatest college basketball player of all time...he wants to come home? Slaughter the fatted calves boy, I think I see ol' Prodigal comin' over the hill... PS You might remember the reaction of the elder son who stayed home and diligently worked on the farm all those years...only to see a great feast held for the return of the son who abandoned the family... "My son," the father said, "you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." Yep, Luke pretty much captures it right there. Welcome to the rebirth of Hoyaparanoia!

Maybe he could be a bigger Boubacar Aw. Look at 'Cuse & Uconn, they run in four or five bigs in each game.

Hey Buff, statistics are okay, but they aren't the end all.A lot of times, they are misleading, rarely do they ever till the whole story. Projections in terms of numbers don't give you a clue about anything. You can't say a person is going to EXACTLY do in 20 minutes based on what they did in 10 minutes. Its inaccurate. Coaching and evaluating talent involves a whole lot more than just statistics. I remember Red Aurebach said when he evaluated players he would go to game with a cigar in his mouth, and watch a player play. He didn't need a pad, a pen, and a calculator. He watched what the player brought to the court and the team, which a lot of times don't show up on box scores. If that weren't the case there would be a lot of former statisticians turned coaches/GM's winning NCAA titles, NBA titles, NFL titles etc. It was a joke, _way. Good lord.

I'll leave the basketball analysis for others, because the only PE,Jr. clips I have seen are the ones that have been posted here.
The HUGE plus I see is a PR one -- A Thompson coaching a Ewing on the Hilltop once again -- the media is going to LOVE this. This may seem like not a big deal, but I think these "human interests" stories can go a long way.

Adding speculative fuel to fire: The arrival of PE2 is first in long line of dominoes:
8 years until the arrival of Alonzo "Trey" Mourning III
and
14 years until the arrival of Allen "Deuce" Iverson II

I heard Jerome "Junkyard Puppy" Williams II is enrolled at that day care center next to the old Hoya Station.

Don't forget Reggie "Little Miracle" Williams II and his divine jump shot in about 4 years...

Where is he playing now, and is he pretty good? I don't think he was serious, but I really dont know anything about Reggie's possible offspring.

I don't think he was serious, but I really dont know anything about Reggie's possible offspring. Apparently when he was 8 he verbaled to Syracuse, so I don't think we have much of a chance. It's too bad because when you look at his CYO stats and project them out, you can tell he's going to be one heckuva player.

I was kidding, _way...
I thought "Little Miracle" and "divine" would make it obvious. But, I think he plays high school ball with Eric "Snooze" Floyd, Jr., who is expected to follow in his dad's footsteps...

Eric "Snooze" Floyd? Well, I guess that's preferable to Eric "Dopey" Floyd, Eric "Grumpy" Floyd, Eric "Happy" Floyd, Eric "Sneezy" Floyd, Eric "Bashful" Floyd or Eric "Doc" Floyd. Actually, I think Eric "Doc" Floyd has a nice ring to it.

wow i really cant wait for ewing to be on gtown. He will bring some real intensity to the defensive end aswell as some big throwdowns and good boxing out. He could be a missing piece in a BIG '06-'07 season.

Whether he is a great player or not, I think that just his presense here will remind the guys of good times past and motivate them a lot. Besides, I don't think we are the only ones that have noticed there will be a Thompson and an Ewing on the field again...

PEJr at Georgetown puts an additional layer of pressure on JTIII. He now has to be in the shadow of JT and of PE. Tough assignment.

PEJr at Georgetown puts an additional layer of pressure on JTIII. He now has to be in the shadow of JT and of PE. Tough assignment. There is no pressure at all for JTIII. He followed a legend in Pete Carrill and did a fine job, and he has his father's shadow here and he is doing a fine job. He will handle it just fine. The pressure will be on PE2.
