Myles Dread Gonzaga player Hoyas have shown light interest in to Penn State He was being considered by many high-profile schools such as Georgetown, Virginia and Maryland for the Class of 2018 but only had offers so far from mid-majors such as James Madison and George Mason. According to Towson, Md.-based Tom Strickler who covers the DMV for National Recruiting Report, that's probably because he has not established a consistent and polished perimeter jumper: www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/07/penn_state_basketball_nabs_ver.html

Team Takeover 2018 shooting guard Brandon Slater continues to show why he's one of the best three-point shooters in his class. The 6-foot-5, four-star southpaw sharp shooter went a perfect three for three from beyond the arc on the first night and made his only three-point attempt in the Thursday evening session. Slater does an excellent job of moving without the ball on offense, especially coming hard off of screens. He also rebounds extremely well for a guard due to his length. Slater's most recent offer comes from Virginia, while he mentioned Maryland, Louisville, Miami and West Virginia as the other schools that have offered and are showing the most interest. Syracuse and Temple are also in the mix.

Great decision by Sid Wilson to reclass to as of now a relatively weak/thin 2018 class. Should get a ton of attention from Top Programs playing at Brewsters Academy.

On the recruiting trail a lot of coaches are keeping in close contact with Smith. “There are a lot of schools, Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, Maryland, Penn State, Arizona, and a lot more,” he said

Plays Football also highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/article/-4506945702886381758/arthur-hills-jimmy-bell-loses-weight-adds-football-basketball-offers/0 comments Boys Basketball, Football Arthur Hill's Jimmy Bell loses weight, adds football, basketball offers Arthur Hill junior Jimmy Bell has received Division 1 football and basketball offers. By Hugh Bernreuter | hbernreu@mlive.com on July 22, 2016 8:00 AM, updated July 22, 2016 10:04 AM 458 shares SAGINAW, MI — Jimmy Bell is growing … and shrinking. It’s a trend that he plans to continue. It’s also a trend that has NCAA Division I college coaches, both football and basketball, planning visits to Saginaw Arthur Hill for the 2015-16 school year. Bell is only 16 and entering his junior seasons at Arthur Hill. He’s also 6 feet, 10 inches tall and 332 pounds. If the 6-10 measurement has college coaches excited, the scale has them ready to offer. And they have. Bell has basketball offers from Nevada-Las Vegas, Iowa State, Southern Utah and Oakland. He has football offers from Akron, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. When he finished his sophomore basketball season, Bell was 6-8 and weighed 358 pounds. “We talked to him about losing weight,” Arthur Hill basketball coach Greg McMath said. “We told him how it would make him quicker on his feet, how he would be able to move more, have more endurance.” So Bell did what was needed. “My goal is 310 pounds, so I’ve been working out a lot, doing things right, eating right,” Bell said. “I eat baked food now instead of fried. I eat vegetables. I drink water instead of pop.” _________ Not too much out there on him will update accordingly...

A 6-foot-5 wing on Team Takeover with length and athleticism, what Slater really has are great feet. Those feet afford him a terrific first step and they are going to allow him to be a high-level college defender and potential defensive stopper at multiple positions should he choose to fully buy into that role. His offense isn't bad either as he's a streak shooter, above-the-rim finisher and improving ball-handler. Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, USC, Louisville, Virginia Tech and Miami. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/vegas-sunday-smith-s-time-to-shine

KJ Hymes He is up to 13 offers, after receiving six before entering his sophomore year. Knights coach Ty Amundsen said Hymes is receiving strong interest from UCLA, Michigan and Georgetown. RELATED: Growth spurt: Arizona boys basketball growing up with big men Hymes said he finally played in a Nike event this summer against guys his own age. "Since the eighth grade, I've always played up, against guys older than me," he said. St. Mary's could be a force in the 4A Conference, moving down two levels, this basketball season. Almost everybody returns from a good team that got to the state tournament last year in the highest division. Hymes didn't put up eye-popping numbers during the summer, but he was playing against some of the best competition in the country in the Nike EYBL sessions for the Las Vegas Prospects. And coaches see the long arms, the way he runs the floor, the potential and upside. www.azcentral.com/story/sports/high-school/recruiting/2016/08/02/st-marys-big-man-kj-hymes-seeing-recruiting-boost/87969492/

Jalen Smith Power forward 4 STARS Mount St. Joseph Baltimore, MD RR: N/A Ht: 6'9" Wt: 205 lbs Class: 2018 - POSITION 24 NATIONAL - STATE Commitment status: UNDECIDED Summer performance: A wiry strong power forward who has always been long on potential, “Sticks” took a huge leap forward during the month of July. He became an effective scorer on the block, ran the floor with purpose and caused problems as a shot blocker. He led Team Takeover to a 16U title at the Fab 48 and earned MVP honors in the process. Recruitment: Florida, Arizona, Maryland, Villanova, Virginia, Stanford, Syracuse, USC, Providence, Marquette and Miami have already offered. Zion Williamson Small forward 5 STARS Spartanburg Day School Spartanburg, SC RR: N/A Ht: 6'5" Wt: 230 lbs Class: 2018 - POSITION 3 NATIONAL - STATE Commitment status: UNDECIDED Summer performance: Whether it was with his summer team Game Elite, at Adidas Nations or at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, Williamson totally crushed it. One of the most explosive players in the country, Williamson is incredibly quick off the floor and plays with big-time power. Nobody in the country was more efficient and he looked like a young Larry Johnson at times. Recruitment: Williamson now has more than 25 offers including North Carolina, Oregon, Wake Forest, Auburn, Arizona State, Arizona, Baylor, UCLA, Maryland, Clemson, Florida and Georgia. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/class-of-2018-all-summer-team
