Need to win the foul battle, hit FTs, and avoid horrible TOs.

Not a bad starting time for a game against a team with a great RPI. No excuse for a small crowd and no excuse for the students not to show.

This is going to be a very difficult game. Obviously, they've already beaten us. And the things that this Hoya team does particularly well (gets out in transition generally; turns turnovers and rebounds into early baskets; gets good shots early in the shot clock; and earns second chance points) are the things this Butler team is particularly good at preventing. We're going to need DSR and Josh (the latter, particularly) to have big games. Neither did last time. And we're going to have to be able to grind some good looks late in the shot clock.
This is a five-game portion of the schedule where it would be nice to do some damage. We have perhaps our two most winnable remaining away games of the year (Marquette and Creighton), we get Butler and X at home, and, of course, there's the shot at Nova. Not going to panic if we lose this one (or even if we lose the next two), but we need to win 3 out of these 5, which would put us in the top 4 of the league half-way through. 4 out of 5 is very doable and would set us up as a clear upper echelon team in the conference this season. But that would take a level of consistency that we just haven't seen to date. I hope it starts tomorrow!

I think the team was emotionally and physically exhausted the last time they met up, having just lost a street fight to Wisconsin only hours after squeaking out an overtime win against Florida the night before. I mean DSR in particular poured just about everything he had into that Wisconsin game and the team were noticeably frazzled. They had nothing left in the tank and it showed. I think they are rested and battle tested now, and it will be different.

I dont know if this is against board rules but the line is hoyas favored by 4. Im surprised we are favored. Yes we are at home but that does not mean a lot since we dont have an intimate home court advantage on campus like a gampel pavallion. Butler also beat us already... Well I hope vegas knows something I do not! That line is just begging you to take Butler!

Gotta factor in real life circumstances. I'm not saying they didn't deserve to beat us, but if we lock up Dunhamn and Jones we should be fine.

I understand that the Verizon Center isn't Rupp, but we are 67-22 (75.3%) at home and 43-47 (47.8%) on the road in Big East regular season games during JT III's tenure. That certainly feels like a home court advantage.

Is it possible for one of our two centers to not pick up a foul top of the key on a switch reaching in? Can they just sag back to the foul line? Can someone tell me what good it does having JS out that far reaching in?? I'd just like to avoid stupid stuff like that.

There's been several studies that point out that home court advantage is about a lot more than fan noise. Travel, sleeping in your own bed, familiarity, etc. Even in an empty arena, teams would play better at home.

I would settle for not picking up 30 foot from the basket foul in the first five minutes

We let uncontested layup after uncontested lay up off of made baskets. I don't see that happening again.

With under 30 mins. left until game time, the Hoyas are still favored by 4 pts and the over/under is 129.
I have to take the points as this game feels like it will come down to the last possession. And take the over of 129. Butler's last 2 games went over the total and Georgetown's last game against DePaul went over the total as well.
