Don't know about a band but I see a Blind Apologist Promotion Night, with a give away of retro Stevie Wonder sunglasses with a "We Can See You Eagle 54 " embossed on the side. It could be held in conjunction with a Drquigley Memorial Ceremony, to allow fans to grieve for his untimely departure from Hoyatalk.

You'll never drive me crazy. I'm here to win and point this board to some sort of reality. If the reality of winning and being an impactful program happens, I'm sure you and your buddies will start following suit. Being blind apologists is not something that is admirable or something to criticize someone who is not. Nor does it make you a bigger supporter of this program. I look forward to the season with all of you as you are all a real joy (and I really mean that) and hope we are all singing from the same hymnal when this gets going. Things look positive this offseason but ... I'll stop there and wait and see. Good luck III and the Hoyas. You're here to win? Win what? Exactly

I'm sure in this circle of Hoya supporters you are proud. Good work.

Drquigley posted that he had other stuff going on which was why he wasn't posting as much. No one ran him off. He's just got more real life going on, apparently, than some of us idiots.

C'mon TAS, really? You are way beyond defending this clown. I know what he's doing but he did run him off as the Dr. no longer feels comfortable posting on this board because your boy was an a****** to him for some time. That's my point. Don't think because he posted once that all is good. Our former poster just didn't want to deal with the mentality that prevails on this board which is hostile to those who don't don't drink from the Hoya fountain of hope as most that survive here do.

Maybe you know better. I don't know drquigley. I was only taking him at his word and repeating it in case you missed his post. With regard to kc, he doesn't need to be defended. He does just fine with that on his own. Most of his stuff I read as sarcastic and, some of the time, caustically so. But I could be wrong about that too. Tone is difficult to read in type. I will say that kc is also willing to engage in conversations and provide his point of view without that sarcasm if you keep it on topic and don't just start throwing jabs because you feel you're losing the argument. Whether or not that is the prevailing perspective is a different conversation. I guess it's to be expected here when talking about something that we all care about probably more than we should. We get passionate and say/type stuff that we don't necessarily filter much. I'm not saying that's what kc does. I'm more saying that we probably all do that to an extent. I've re-read some of what I've posted here and wished I had taken a second to consider how it may read. But, by the same token, on some level I like that people care enough to not take that second to do so. In any case, I wasn't defending anyone. I was just trying to summarize drquigley's post in case you had missed it. Hopefully, when the season gets closer to starting, his schedule allows him to get back to offering up his view of things. If not, I hope it's not because he was deterred by any of us. There's a block option for a reason.

What does any of this drivel have to do with the Maui Invitational?

You have me pegged pretty well I definitely err towards being sarcastic and subversive, but I'm happy to stick to the merits. I usually only respond in kind when someone else gets off topic. For example, in this thread, I posted n purely information post about the update put out by GU: Prices and packages announced. wearegeorgetown.com/tickets/2016-maui-jim-maui-invitational/?camefrom=EMCL_1140861_43726164In past tourneys, I don't remember there being an option to purchase just the game tickets (separate from the travel package), but I may be wrong. At least they've continued the tradition of having a reasonable price on the travel packages - only $887 per night if you want to go with your significant other for five nights (though that does include a Maui Jim Maui Invitational name badge, lanyard and souvenir!) In response, eagle54 starts off by making a comment about me, and then demonstrating he didn't even read the link I posted, which clearly indicates airfare is not included in the travel package. A man of your means? C'mon KC, I expect you to be front and center at those games with that significant other. If that price is inclusive of airfare for two then that's not a bad deal for a trip to Hawaii as the combined cost of the two can be very expensive. Tough to do that trip though if your not going to spend some more time there than a long weekend unless maybe you live in SF or LA due to travel time. So, in response, I made a reasonable post: Maybe you stop obsessively attacking me and actually read the linked page. And it devolved from there.

Has anyone here been to the Maui Invitational in the past? I'm curious what the experience is like. My wife wants to go so we're trying to decide if it's worth the backlash of missing family Thanksgiving.

Went last time, and it's a lot of fun. It's not hard at all to get your tickets through Georgetown. Our turnout is pretty low so I didn't have to buy the travel package to purchase tickets. I can't imagine that will be different this year. The drawback is that it's a really expensive trip, and it's a serious haul to get out there. If you're going to go, build in some time to get over the jet lag and so you can really enjoy it.

Awesome trip. Went last tournament. Usually the best Thanksgiving tournament based on field and the gym is so small.

I went last time as well. I noticed that there is a special rate for reserved seats this time. It is not that important because it is like seeing a game in McDonough. But, if I were to go again,I would consider the reserved seating. I did spend hours waiting to get in with other general admission attendees. Lost some valuable vacation time waiting on line.

I didn't check the link so apologies if that was in their original post but guessing that might be your own commentary which we've all grown to love. Then it devolved. Hope those going to Maui enjoy the trip and weren't turned off by the negative commentary on the pricing that was posted earlier in the information post.

Looks like we get Oregon and then either Tennesee or Wisconsin. Would love to keep the recent run of games against the Badgers going. At this point the seeds have at least been planted for a mini rivalry of sorts.

It looks like UNC with the 1 seed and Oregon #2, that puts us solidly on the 7 line. Disrespectful.

And since the Hoyas have played Wisconsin the past couple of seasons Oregon might have been the easiest choice for a first round matchup.

After last season, GU doesn't deserve any respect. And that's OK. Team has to earn it - IF they want it. No harm in that. Sometimes, lack of respect can be a great motivator. Let's see how this team reacts. Can Pryor and Mulmore make a serious difference? In attitude? Determination? Fight? Defense?
Let's hope so.
