Love how JT3 is willing to play anyone anywhere. Our out of conference schedule that year already includes Kansas, Syracuse, and UCONN - with the possibility of playing UCONN twice and teams like Wisc, UNC and others to boot.

Great exposure for the program - and not a bad little enticement for recruits, a trip to Maui!

Great!
Isn't there a pre-season trip to Italy in 2015/16? If so, these guys will be frequent flyer milers, more so than last year's team! (And it will be awesome for team chemistry)

Here it is: Coach spoke for some time on the schedule, especially on playing the tournaments, Bahamas this year, Duke and Wisconsin next year and the Nike thing 2 years from now. He also looked forward to the Italy trip next summer, saying we were all invited along. He noted that next year's frosh will get to go on the trip, something he's clearly using as an incentive in recruiting. He also mentioned renewing the rivalries with SU and UConn.

Anybody watching this year's Maui Invitational? There's a big mural at one end of the LCC (used to be big windows there where other teams would watch the current game if anyone remembers that far back) with a bunch of players and coaches on it. Looks like JTIII is pictured at the far right, but I'm not sure.

This may sound crazy but I am wondering about going to Maui for the invitational this coming November. I am going. I have reservations, going to get to spend some time with my roommate who I have not seen enough over the years. However I do not know how the same staff and mostly the same players reverse a losing mentality over the off season. How do they begin to believe that they will win every game they play? I certainly do not believe that this is their mindset currently. This may be a naïve question, I do not want to travel several thousand miles to see a continuation of this season. Views on this would be appreciated.

That will give you time to see how the dust settles after the season, spring, transfer season, NBA combines, etc... Then, at least you will know the roster for next season and, thus, our chances vs. a stacked field.

I'd suspect based on the way we move it will be status quo by this summer with the possibility of one irrelevant transfer. I'm not seeing how we right this by next year with current team and what is coming in but I do believe in miracles.

The games sound like they would just be the excuse to have a great time. GO!

Next season's success if everyone returns will depend on three things (1) replacing the starting backcourt. The Hoyas played without a point guard this year because the DSR experiment at that position failed miserably. The pg experiment took away from his sg capabilitiesCampbell played the whole season like Domingo played when he came out early, tentative and unsure. I don't expect much improvement so I don't expect much more than an off the bench replacement next year. I think III should tell LJ that he is giving him the reigns next year at pg and that he has the opportunity to make the jump like Dunn did. He just has to work this summer on his handle. (2) the sg position should be shared by Johnson and Moseley. Neither is a 3pt specialist but both are scorers who I think will find a way to score adequately with mid- range jumpers or drives to the basket. (3) JTIII stressing up tempo basketball and the use of the half court press more than less. LJ can push the ball up court now and with an improved handle, will be able to manuver even against pressing teams. Johnson and Moseley are downhill players who should benefit from the open court on their drives.

I don't wanna see LJ at the one. I want to see us get a grad transfer, or give the ball to Tre and let him have a chance. LJ's a scorer and a playmaker. He shouldn't have the burden of running the offense.

I am also thinking about heading to Maui for Thanksgiving. I keep telling myself, it's a trip to Hawaii no matter how the Hoyas play. I would avoid the official travel packages, which seem unnecessarily inflated. I understand tickets to the Classic are not difficult to get.

He shouldn't have the burden of running the offense. Totally agree with targeting a grad transfer. To play devil's advocate for a minute, LJ did have the ball in his hands a ton when he was at Gaffney and looks very comfortable staying aggressive on offense. It may be the type of thing where LJ looks to score first before running the offense.

Are you subtly hinting that HoyaTalk tear up your moderator contract and reward you for shepherding us through this disaster of a season? Absolutely warranted.
