At this point I'd rather see Tre and LJ on the floor together with DSR on the bench more. That's a weird thing I noticed yesterday... I feel like the team was actually better when DSR was off the court :/ or maybe I'm seeing things

On one of Tre's subs out of the game, the camera was on him and JT3 stopped him before going to the bench. Tre stopped to listen and discuss something with JT3, all the while with his arm around JT3's shoulders. I'm guessing JT3 trusts him... Maybe, just maybe, the staff is actually trying to help Tre become a better player in whatever way they can. Weird thought. Maybe, just maybe, everyone else thought that the staff actually is trying to help Tre become a better player in whatever way they can, and give him a bro hug too. Weird thought.

I feel like the team was actually better when DSR was off the court :/ or maybe I'm seeing things DSR has never been a good defender, but he has been particularly bad this year. Same thing with Tre - outside of some good work in the second half of the providence game, he has been awful. Even when we play zone, guard can drive right past DSR and Tre into the lane. i have never seen a zone that allowed the ball to the sweet spot at the foul line so easily. Our defense is often hopeless when these two play together. DSR has a lot of strengths as an offensive player, but his defensive play this year has negated a lot of his offensive benefits. I would not say we are better off without him playing - but he really has had a disappointing senior year.

Calling for Mourning to get more time because we need a backup center now with Hayes out and probably for next year too. Calling for Campbell to get less time because he is taking valuable time away from Peak, has gotten plenty of time and shown us nothing, and next year, if Campbell is our starting pg we are in big trouble. In the last 4 games LJ has played 26, 32, 29, and 32 minutes. Tre has played 23, 17, 15, and 21. Is he really taking that many minutes from LJ recently? Is LJ playing 35 minutes and Tre playing 15 really the solution to this team's problems? I don't buy it. At this point I'd rather see Tre and LJ on the floor together with DSR on the bench more. Last night he took at least 7 minutes from LJ. This waiting for the first timeout to switch LJ for Tre is just killing us. As long as JT3 doesn't put Tre and LJ on the floor together, any time Tre gets he's getting from LJ.

Etomic, outside of the inbound pass from the baseline to Govan I believe for a layup, the other 4 assist were not passes that lead to or produced easy baskets but more of the player(s) receiving the pass creating a scoring opportunity. Big difference! If Tre continues to get 10-15 minutes this team won't even make the NIT. I see no benefits in Tre continuing to get more then spot minutes and his minutes that he has been getting needs to be going to Kaleb Johnson at this point. Tre has been just awful this season and rewarding him with as many minutes as possible as you suggested is the wrong message.

Kaleb is even more of a liability on offense, and his defense has definitely regressed. 5 fouls in 14 minutes last game.

Your point about his assists is wrong, he made a nice pass to Jessie off a PnR on the left baseline & Jessie made the ten footer.. Check the film @ the 17 minute mark.. I haven't watched the full game yet but I didn't have to go far to find a legit assist. I agree Tre has been bad but he's not the only one, I say give him a chance to get better..

If this were three on three or four on four basketball, we'd be much better off. We simply cannot find five guys to play together consistently where some deep flaw isn't exposed over the course of a game.

Yes, youhave to have at least two true point guards on any team IMO. Creates havoc.

Let's face it Kaleb is a total liability on offense(poor free throw shooter and not very good jump shooter) and his defense has regressed as well. Kaleb is not a 1 or 2. He is a 3. Tre is slightly better than Kaleb, but not much. The solution for next year is get a graduate transfer point guard and have Tre be the backup. The graduate transfer would get big minutes so I think you might get a decent player. Someone like Anthony Collins (from South Florida to Texas A&M) would be a huge upgrade in my opinion. You play LJ at the 2.

The problem here is that there may be too many minutes to go around at the point position, based upon the level of play we've seen this season.

I'm not sure LJ is able fill the facilitator's role, you're taking away his strength as far as being in attack mode. Just like the mistake of DSR playing the role as the PG on the team, before LJ became the 6th man off the bench.

No, you're not taking his strength away at the pg position. As a matter of fact, he attacks the basket when he knows he has too! ..

I'm not going to bother going back to the film and check the 17 minute mark. I'll concede you that assist. So 2 legitimate assist that lead a player to scoring opportunity from your starting PG who played 23 minutes in the game and you want to reward him with your words "as much time as possible"? I know the stat sheet says he had no turnovers but it has gotten to the point that him shooting the rock is as good as a turnover if we don't get the offensive rebound. I have never seen a high major PG who you can actually see duck for cover when driving in traffic for a layup. Tre has actually air balled multiple layups and floaters within 5-7 feet this season. THIS IS THE STARTING PG OF A HIGH MAJOR PROGRAM! And you want to give him (your words) "as much time as possible". I don't have the time an energy to break down how absolutely abysmal Tre has been on defense the entire season. Let's just say I refer to his defense as a supermarket entrance, as soon as you get close to him, he just opens up and let's you into the key. THIS IS THE STARTING PG OF A HIGH MAJOR PROGRAM! Your answer to his poor play is to give him as much time as possible? What would giving Tre as much time as possible say to a Kaleb Johnson who when given minutes has easily had a better season then Tre. You don't think Kaleb wants play as much as possible. He's not blind! He see Tre playing all of these minutes and struggling. Kaleb has confidence in himself, feels he can help if given the opportunity and wants to play and he has to sit on the bench and watch Tre play poorly on both sides of the ball. If we all can see on TV Tre bailing out to avoid contact on drives to the basket, I'm sure Kaleb and the rest of the team who have front row seats can see it. The message you want to send to rest of the guys on the bench who Tre is possibly taking minutes away from is performance doesn't matter when it comes to playing time? Your right about Tre not being the only one who has struggled but every one else has had multiple flashes of success, multiple good games. Copeland has had games where he's struggled but he's had several good games. So has Peak, DSR, Cameron, Derrickson, Johnson, Govan, Hayes, and so on down the roster. You know who hasn't had more then 1 good game all season on the roster and is starting and eating up minutes? Tre Campbell! Ever since the Xavier game where he played well, Tre your starting PG is averaging 1.6 points in 8 games. And your answer to his awful play is to give him as much time as possible. Your right, he's not the only problem but we know for sure playing Tre isn't anywhere near the solution.

He definitely attacks the basket at will but his facilitation is not that great. You'll see Peak get caught in the teeth of the defense more often (rarely) then he passes out of a drive (never). I love the guy but facilitating is not his strength, finishing is.

Your right, he's not the only problem but we know for sure playing Tre isn't anywhere near the solution. You give him time this year, which is pretty much done, and hope it helps him develop for next year, when your options at the point are (1) Tre Campbell, (2) a freshman combo guard (Mosely), (3) a graduate transfer (or a freshman recruit that de-commits) that may not exist, (4) LJ Peak, and (5) Kaleb Johnson. Yes, I'd like a graduate transfer (or for Chris Wright 2.0 to de-commit from their current school and decide to come to Georgetown) to come save us at the point, but if this season has taught me anything, its that what I want doesn't always happen. Anyway, Tre playing 15-20 minutes a game this year is important for the same reason Trey and Kaleb playing 15-20 minutes a game is important. We need them next year, and more time now in a lost season may be the difference between them being helpful next year or being as unreliable as they have been this year. Other than Trey only getting 3 minutes (Govan seems unlikely to play more than 30 mpg going forward), I'd like to see the minutes distribution look a lot like it did against Seton Hall, where Kaleb got 14 minutes, and the other key pieces for next year all got 20-30 minutes. None of this may end up mattering all that much, but I like to be optimistic.
