You don't win any of these fights unless you stay in them.

Thanks Vince Lombardi but isn't this potentially the root issue for a lot of our recruiting misses recently, both back court and front court? Get enamored with guy GU is very unlikely to get once writing is on the wall, continue to pursue, fail to investigate early enough alternatives more likely to commit, lose out on pipe dream and more reasonable prospects? I don't know - just seems that way to me given our bevy of recruiting misses in the back court of late.

You don't win any of these fights unless you stay in them. You also need to know which fights you should fight. Now I have no inside info one way or the other but it doesn't sound like he is itching to be a Hoya. Whatever it is we are selling these backcourt kids, they ain't buying.

It's a nice thing to say that you don't win these fights if you don't stay in them. But our staff has to take into account probability with Fultz. If they truly think he's a top 25 player AND he genuinely does feel Kentucky is his number 1, then more than likely it will play out that way. Don't stop recruiting him, but don't invest too much either.

I don’t think he ends up here but the kid is local, so unless he tells you you’re out, you should recruit him… It really doesn’t take up a lot of effort to recruit him. It’s not like you’re flying across the country just to see him, you’re just driving across town..
He might really like all of those schools but in the end decide he wants to stay close to Family for whatever reason. It happens all the time.

How do many of the schools see him? "I really want to play the point guard in college because I think that will be the best opportunity for me because of my height. They see me as versatile point, who can play the one or the two."
Makes sense. His instincts and effortless ability are somewhat reminiscent of D'Angelo Russell. Yaboy, check out who the writer thought was the best passer at the event.. Lol.. - See more at: www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/509432?referrer_id=1103687#sthash.SsDbTTWK.dpuf

If he want to run the point and is serious about it, there might be a lane there for a team to get in
It’s unclear if Arizona or some of the other schools he really likes would offer that to him

I agree with enj and i guess we could both be wrong but i think the overwhelming trend in these type of battles is we don't win...
Now if Fultz was a Center, PF, or SF i would feel completely different. Especially as of late w otto exploding in the playoffs and what Cope could eventually become.
However i think at the guard position our best bets at this time is landing players like bracey or kaleb johnson, under the radar, potential to be good to very good, and then that will help start pushing these battles more our way.
What would be ideal this year would be a good tourney run, DSR shining as a player and leader, i think that would make a world of a difference personally in terms of perception. Just to show you can be a combo gaurd at gtown at the highest level would go a long way.

You still must try at this point. There's no harm in staying in the race.

Kentucky has two lead guards ahead of this kid. I think you always stay in touch because look at the Billy Donovan situation and with all the decommits, recommits, and grad transfers, situations change quickly. Currently locally MD has been beating us on these guys but we are doing just fine on the recruiting trail.

You still must try at this point. There's no harm in staying in the race. Of course there is harm. You are taking away time from recruiting other kids. Maybe Bracey, whom we seem to think is leaning toward us, doesn't feel the love because we are following Fuktz.
