Looks like our schedule isn't going to help us much if we end up on or near the bubble this season. From ESPN piece rating schedules:
-------
Scared of hostile crowds
By my count, there are just four programs that won’t play a true road game in the nonconference: Notre Dame (whom we’ve already made fun of), Indiana, Georgetown and Boston College. New BC coach Jim Christian gets a break because he didn’t inherit much, and Tom Crean needs to win as many games as possible to save his job. John Thompson III and the Hoyas have just 11 nonleague games –- and not a single one is a true road contest.
-------
Not too worried about it. But it does mean we need to put at least a few signature wins on the board, as we won't have as many "good" losses on the resume

Honestly, Im usually more worried about our conference schedule than our OOC schedule. Nobody really plays road OOC games anymore. They play in tourneys and at neutral sites. It just happens that our 1 marquee home and home is in DC this year. But, yeah, if we dont beat Kansas or Indiana or Florida, etc, we start to run out of opportunities for good wins because, let's face it, winning at Seton Hall, DePaul and Butler isn't going to stand out unless we win all 3 and...some others.

That's true... except that four of those games are likely to be very strong neutral site games and one of those games is against Kansas. So, um, yeah, five of our 11 non-conference games are actually pretty tough. And I don't think we're actually allowed to have more since we have 18 league games.
Syracuse, for example, has two true road games, but unless you count the incredibly mediocre field in the 2k classic, that's all they've got.

Yeah, Kentucky's one road game is at Louisville. That's just because it was Louisville's turn to host the game this year. Duke's one road game is at Wisconsin. I assume they have a home and home schedule with them, too.

I like this quote of JTIII: “Josh has done everything at a high level so far this year,” Thompson said. But am a bit wary of the rest of the quote: “Now sitting here a year ago, I said the same thing, so it’s up to him to maintain what he has been doing, but as of now, he’s on point with everything on the floor as well as in the classroom. I said the same thing at this point last year. Now he’s got to continue to do it.” Let's hope Josh remains on point for the season!

This was done by the Big East Conference. It amazes me that they can't get it right with regard to who is returning on our roster. When less than a week before the first game they show that Aaron Bowman has graduated and left the program. When your own conference can't get it right. I just don't know where this thing is headed.

A particularly nice quote from DSR: "Defensively we did a great job of controlling the rebounds and being physical with them whenever they made a few runs."
Any time you talk about another team making runs, you are silently saying you were ahead and in control otherwise. Which is nice.
Plus, based on other quotes in that article, DSR is just THE MAN. He talks like a coach, or at least like a really smart, composed and mature young MAN who not only knows the game but values his teammates. Never met him, probably never will, but I would go out on a limb and say he represents as a great Hoya. He was with Markel last year for the 6AM free throw shooting practices, which showed results at game time. He generally does the right thing on the court, which I am particularly excited for this season when he won't have so much pressure to get his own and will have lots of chances to feed others. He is poised in front of the camera and has the Hoya-attitude of calm professionalism in his game. Over the next two seasons he is in a position to carve out a serious place in our pantheon and I sure hope he does cause he just seems like a super representative of our school.

Speaking of quotes on the scrimmages, is this the quintessential JT3 quote or what? Overall I was not displeased with how both of them went.

Time to get geared up fabrily.com/coolteesaleNote: Not sure if this is an actual shirt or one of those design-your-own sites, but this appears not to be a licensed product and Georgetown's licensing group may move to take this down. Just an FYI.--Admin

Agree about Standig and CSN being much better than the WaPo, but since Liz now covers the Washington football team, I don't think she is our beat writer anymore. I believe Gene Wang now covers the Hoyas. Personally, I miss Tarik El-Bashir.
