HATE to see Hoyas miss out on JJJ...but I cannot blame him on some level for choosing the school of HIS choice, in his geographic region...best wishes to him and his family.

Probably the best non-Hoyas choice as far as face-saving goes. Maryland would have been a complete slap in the face and Matt Painter at Purdue is a knob.
Still, didn't both parents go to Georgetown? Hard to believe we couldn't get this kid, this has to be the low point of JT3's tenure, isn't it? 2 out of 3 lousy seasons, likely 2 straight recruiting classes without a top 100 player, losing a legacy kid...

So happy he isn't a Terp. Best of luck to the man.
Regardless, our recruiting hole just got that much deeper. Can't believe this is happening in the first year of a brand new facility. The staff needs to pick it up. It's time to be concerned.

It has only been open for use for about a month...very few 2017 kids will get to see it as something other then a building under construction. If the same continues to happen with the 2018 class and the 2017 spring commits, then there will be concerns.

Not good. GTown program not looked as a national power by recruits. Mojo Gone. I wonder how JTII feels about this?

Uhhh...
III has said himself that it is a game changer. The team is already practicing in it, and it will be 100% completed by the time 2017 recruits step foot on campus for the first time...

We recruited just fine when our facility was McD. The JTJr. Center is a shiny new toy, but it is unlikely to be any shinier than the facilities at high level schools we are recruiting against.

You're correct: It is a game changer and the team has been practicing in it for the past month, but how many recruits have visited in the past month since it finished? You can show guys plans and CGI videos all day long but it doesn't have the same impact as actually walking through the doors. That's why many of us are excited when we hear players are planning their official for the weekend of the grand opening. Also like SD said, this puts us on par with many of our (ideal) peers on the court...it's not a revolutionary sports facility.

Bummer. I can live with MSU better than the alternatives.
Still it is a bummer.

It is sad to see what is going on. Lets expect that it is not to late to change the perception of our Basketball Program.

I'm definitely disappointed, but can't blame JJ.
As has been discussed ad nauseam, the whole "my parents went there" thing cuts both ways and can hurt as much as it helps. That being said, even if JJ had no connection to GU, it's hard to argue with his choice.
MSU has made at least 4 Final Fours with Tom Izzo and tends to do it every 4 years with his kids. Plus, they have the best success story currently in the minds of everyone for a player like JJ: Draymond Green.
From an education standpoint, of course he could do better - but from a basketball standpoint, I'm happy for JJ.
Happy Birthday, kid - best of luck to you.

I see very few similarities between JJ Jr. and Draymond Green. Can't fault a Midwest kid for choosing Michigan State. But the Draymond Green thing is a stretch.
