MD fans on 247 are breaking down because they think he's going to Purdue. But seems like everybody is really just guessing. I'd be fine with Purdue.

If he goes to UMD I think it's safe to declare tomorrow as the official beginning of a new Georgetown-UMD basketball rivalry.

I don't think he's coming here...not sure we really put in the required effort..just went thru the "courtesy" motions...would love to be wrong...if he chooses UMD, I'll be ill...our recruiting to this point has been very discouraging to me (every other team in the Big East EXCEPT us has received one or more commitments)...I maintain hope that we will get the results we need, but I'd be lyin' to you if I said I wasn't very concerned...with our new facility, we ought to be able to land a couple of impact recruits.

Purdue was the team to beat before all the UMD rumors... They've always been in there more than people have given them credit for fwiw

Sounds like nobody quite knows then. Aren't we due to win one of these?? I wish. If probability decided these things we'd have three to four five-stars on roster with a fresh batch of studs coming in the next two years. Unfortunately us being in the top five of a recruits list usually means we have a 5% chance rather than the expected 20% chance.

I understand your disappointment if he goes elsewhere. What makes you think you're right about the lack of required effort such that you'd love to be wrong? I'm not saying it's not fair game to question the effort of the staff on the recruiting trail. That's completely fine if you have any basis for it. I'm saying it's odd to have that feeling in the case of a legacy recruit that probably had a fairly informed opinion with regard to Georgetown before he even started being recruited. It's very likely that Georgetown had a big foot in the door or was on the outside looking in before the process began. Which isn't even accounting for the fact that JJJ is a big time talent with tons of offers from blue blood programs which we are not. What about his recruitment makes you feel like the coaches didn't put in the time and effort as opposed to Jaren just choosing a different school?
