Most of the centers in the BE are not much taller than 6-8 especially the back ups. Not worried about Dickerson playing minutes at the 5.

We're going to play a ton of zone with the '15-16 team. Tall guards, long forwards. Dickerson could defend the 5 fine in a 2-3.

It's not all about height. Hopkins is somewhere in the 6'9 or 6'10 range, and Moses and Hayes had plenty of height and it did no good this past season.
I'd take a big skilled 6'8 guy with offensive skill over a 6'10 guy who is a project. I think people focus too much on height in college where there are plenty of "undersized" guys who are very good. We even had Lubick playing center in 2012-2013 fairly often. Dickerson is surely better equipped for that role than Lubick was.
Obviously, the ideal is size and skill. Hopefully, Govan gives us that.

My concerns about Dickerson are not simply because a lack of ideal height; it's that he struggled against long athletic players during those two televised games on ESPN. Don't get me wrong; I like Dickerson but would prefer him at the 4 instead of the 5. Yes, I realize it was a small sample size and I suspect he'll improve his body and his game in the next year. And yes, I realize height is not the only thing that matters. I think he will be solid at the 5, but my personal preference is someone who can protect the rim more. You mention Moses as having plenty of height, but he was only 6'8.5". But I agree on Hopkins and Hayes; Hopkins has athleticism and Hayes has size and neither has been a great defender. My main point was that I would have loved to have Egbunu in addition to our other 2015 bigs. A 7 footer with athleticism who can protect the rim would have been a nice complement to Derrickson, Dickerson, and Govan. I don't think it's a coincidence that Gtown's best teams in the past 30 years have had rim protectors. That being said, I love Govan and Dickerson and think their low post scoring is the final piece for a complete, top 10 team in 2015-2016.
