THE PHILOMENA FRAUD They got me - I know better –I know the mass media, like the Soviet Pravda and Izvestia, do not let truth stand in the way of propagandizing their Left agenda. Example: Clarence Thomas’ confirmation hearings were televised and widely watched. People saw the witnesses, heard the testimony, and, at the conclusion, polls showed more than two thirds of America believed him, not Anita Hill. One year later, the polls were reversed with two thirds believing Hill. There had been no further hearings, no new witnesses, no new testimony, no new evidence - only an incessant outpouring of mass media talking heads, articles, and columns demonizing Thomas and canonizing Hill. The mass media successfully brainwashed an uncritical public. I know too that the mass media hates the Catholic Church because it opposes their agenda. The Church is against abortion and homosexuality and in favor of marriage as between a man and a woman, family and individual responsibility, and school choice. The mass media flat out lie about the Church. Example, the “news” references are always to the Church’s “pedophilia” scandal when it is undisputed that pedophilia was less than 5% of the reported abuses. The scandal was of homosexuals preying upon adolescent boys in their charge. The scandal demonstrated the wisdom of the Boy Scouts’ policy not to allow homosexuals as scoutmasters in charge of adolescent boys. The mass media had to call the Church scandal something else so it could continue to harass the Boy Scouts to reverse their policy. I knew all this, but I still fell for the reporting about Philomena and Magdalene Laundries: a tale of evil nuns abusing young girls and selling children. It led to a movie which, of course, received a number of Academy Award nominations. I thought, with all that smoke, there must be some fire. WRONG! The Catholic League recently published the facts. Among other things: no nun stole Philomena’s baby; she was 22 when she signed a consent form; her son was not sold to the highest bidder; no fee was charged the adopting couple in the Midwest: a nun portrayed in the movie as cruel died long before the alleged incident; Philomena never went to the United States to find her son; she never had a private meeting with the Pope; and there was no review of the movie by the Pope’s personal secretary. For more details, please see www.catholicleague.org/philomena-malicious-fraud/; www.themediareport.com/2013/02/19/truth-about-irelands-magdalene-laundries/; www.justice.ie/en/JELR/Pages/MagdalenRpt2013The corruption of the mass media is the most distressing change in our culture in the past 40 years. (MediaResearchCenter.org contains countless examples of propaganda masquerading as reporting.) The Left is indefatigable. “Progressives” (the artists formerly known as “Liberals”) have captured the mass media, Hollywood and all levels of schools – elementary through university. Now they are reaping what they have sowed. We poor, deluded, naïve souls thought the point was to get jobs, manage homes, raise kids and try to do all those things well, so we could enjoy our families with a sense of accomplishment. We were not vigilant; we did not work hard enough to promote our values. We have brought the status quo upon ourselves.

Hoyaloya, thanks for posting this. I agree 100% with what you have said but don't expect to get much agreement from posters here on this board. They will only ridicule you, demonstrating what you posted was correct.

Hoyaloya your paragraph on homosexuality being to blame for kids being molested is the most ignorant offensive and stupid thing I have ever read on HoyaTalk. I'm embarrassed for you and anyone who agrees with you.
And I would bet my last dollar the Pope would disagree vehemently with the garbage coming out of your mouth. For anyone who agrees with this nonsense spend some time speaking with child victims of sexual assault and then repent for all you're worth.

Easy Ed, how right you were! It's especially the cool, precise, cleanly rational syllogistic thinking of posters like Silver Hoya one had to expect would make its usual entrance. "Ignorant?" "Stupid?" Really? Well, for the record hoyaloya is an attorney who once saved this poster's hide in a court case thought by some to be unwinnable and did it by keeping my adversary on the stand for 16 straight days of devastating cross-examination that won the case without once referring to either my adversary or his attorney as "ignorant" and "stupid."

Sourcing the Daily Fail is not a good way of stating a case.

Considering those are the words of the two people most involved with the movie (the author of the book and Philomena), I'm not sure what the Daily Mail has to do with it. If anyone would like to defend what the Catholic Church in Ireland did here, good luck. You'll need it.

hoya95 - do you think the author and Philomena may have interests, financial and otherwise, that should be considered when assessing credibility? Easy Ed, it did not take long for your prophecy to prove true - abuse, not facts. Not unexpected.

hoya95 - do you think the author and Philomena may have interests, financial and otherwise, that should be considered when assessing credibility? Why do all of you lawyers insist on playing lawyer on the message board rather than putting together actual logical arguments? Whether someone has "interests, financial or otherwise", does not mean that they are lying. Weak.

Hoyaloya please explain how an adult molesting a child is not a pedophilia problem?

two questions, then I am going back to the hoops board:
if the problem was not pedophilia but homosexuality, wouldn't that mean that many powerful members of the leadership of the church you love were homosexuals?
how much did you get paid for a 16 day cross-examination, and should that "financial interest" cloud our judgment of your work?

Since we have some right wing crazy going on in this thread already, can someone explain why I'm supposed be outraged about some cheapskate freeloading cattle farmer who won't pay a grazing fee or whatever?

Only other check-mark I'll volunteer is disparaging Catholics who cite social-justice concerns as paramount to the Gospel of Jesus as "Cafeteria" Catholics.......
