Eric Bossi @ebosshoops 13m Ray Smith a thoroughbred in transition. Can run for days and all you have to do is throw it near rim and he goes and gets it. #pangosaacamp
Eric Bossi @ebosshoops 3h Like seeing the guy with the biggest reputation in this game , Ray Smith, being fastest to floor diving after a loose ball. #pangosaacamp

Would be great to see him in a Hoya uniform but I don't see it happening, he seems more like a UNC/UK/L'Ville type of player.

From Eric Bossi free Rivals article:
Smith continues his rise
Already ranked No. 32 in the class of 2015, there's only so much further that Ray Smith can rise in the rankings. Make no mistake about it, though, the 6-foot-7 wing from Las Vegas (Nev.) High will be on the rise in the next rankings update and he has solidified what will be a bump up into five-star status. Now, it's just a question of how far he rises.
The evolution of Smith's game over the past year or so has been very gradual and very steady. After bursting onto the scene as a long and lanky wing with athleticism in the spring of 2013, Smith has gotten better every time Rivals.com gets a look at him.
Since this time last year, Smith has grown a couple of inches and he has changed his game from that of a raw athlete to that of a pretty skilled wing player. His strength is still as a transition player. In the open floor, Smith is an absolute thoroughbred who runs with speed and grace. Teammates simply need to throw the ball up around the rim and he'll go get it. But, he's so much more than a dunker.
During Sunday morning's final round of games and camp ending All-Star game (where he went for 30 and earned game MVP honors), Smith showed that game comes easily to him. He has turned into a very respectable shooter from deep, he has improved his ball handling tremendously and he has a confidence about him that suggests he knows that he is one of the baddest dudes on any floor he steps on.
Smith told Rivals.com that he is happy with his final 10 of Arizona, Arizona State, California, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, USC and Wake Forest. Smith said that he is looking into lining up unofficial visits to UCLA, Louisville and Georgetown during June and that he may cut his list further after the summer. Whether or not he cuts his list, though, Smith plans to sign during November.

Happy to hear he's signing in November rather than next spring!

Saw it written on CasualHoya that he's likely to decide soon and that it won't be GTown. Is that a rumor anyone has seen elsewhere? His twitter feed is nonstop Arizona retweets, for whatever that's worth, as well as mentions of an offer from UConn, who seem to have come very late to the party.

Thanks B&G. Disappointing news.
Dislike for Arizona is growing by the day between their pursuit of Smith, Trier and Rabb.

Was never in the cards to get Ray. His name just does not fit into our biblical array of Moses, Joshua, Noah or Isaac. Or not even into another group of D'Vauntes or Jabril. Now Ivan is a distinct possibility for a fit.

pointguardu.com/ray-smith-the-only-option-for-arizona/Smith isn’t the only one who thinks that and that’s why Arizona has gone all out for the Dream Vision wing. In terms of the options, Arizona isn’t involved with anyone like it is with Smith at the SF spot. UCLA, Georgetown, Louisville are also recruiting Smith. That’s nice. Smith should visit Arizona again and it’s clear he loves the coaches, fans and tradition. “I love tradition,” he said. “Whatever fits best for me. That is a huge thing for my dad and I and that will be a big part of my decison.” Smith plans on making a decision in the fall which means he’ll get the “Sean Miller treatment” along with Ivan Rabb on the AAU circuit this summer.

Out of curiosity B&G, can you share any color on whether this is a case where the kid decided he wasn't interested anymore or it was more or less decided for him?

Smith is going to be a top 20 consensus player when the rankings are reshuffled. I seriously doubt we backed off unless it became clear we were wasting our time.

Best What Could Be:
Ray Smith/6’7 Las Vegas High School (Nevada) 2015
The upside of Ray Smith is mind-boggling when you watch him out on the floor. Sporting a 6’7 body and an even longer wingspan, the things that Smith can do in the open floor is just tremendous. He has the length and quick first step to continually get by the first line of defense on the perimeter when placed in the half court, seems to get involved in the passing lanes, and is the true definition of a playmaker when around the basketball. Finishing with 17 points off of just nine shot attempts in a Thursday night affair, Smith won the game for his squad in overtime in nailing a free throw to clinch it. He does have to get better at passing the basketball and consistently rebounding the ball as his game is primarily played on the perimeter, taking him away from rebound attempts, yet his instincts, ball skills, and lateral movements on the floor for a guy that stands 6’7 enables the Las Vegas native a chance to reach his maximum potential at the highest of levels down the road.
