Except he had not hit a jumper all night, had scored on 3 straight drives - then clanks 2 jumpers to end his college career. You do realize this is the coaching genius that is Boeheim, right? Roll the ball out and let the kids do whatever they want to do, on and off the court, while standing aloof on the sidelines. Come on, that's a Hall of Fame coach about whom you're talking.

Another thing Dayton did well in the second half was they denied the ball to Fair and stopped letting him go to his left when he did get it.

More on that Hall-of-Fame coach. . .
@dplennon RT @espnstatsinfo: Jim Boeheim is the first coach in NCAA Tournament history with 6 losses to double digit seeds

You know what... Val Ackerman should just get on the phone now and extend invitations to Dayton and St. Louis.

This is a pretty impressive performance by Oregon, given that they are playing a road game.

Steve Moundou-Missi of Harvard looks like an improved version of Hopper.

congrats to Vee upon being a player who is valued on a SWEET 16 team You know, you can be happy for Vee without framing it as a negative toward GU/III. (Also, as we all know, Vee would have graduated last year. And even if he was on this year's Hoya team, he would have come off the bench - as he did for Dayton, which was one of the last teams in the field). Edit: And for good measure, there is no need to post such a comment in a thread about Buzz Williams. But whatever. Edit 2: I am an idiot and lost track of which thread I was in. Edit 1 is hereby retracted.

Would those schools accept the invite? I would think so, given how much nicer the Big East's TV package is, compared to the A-10. Also, Fox Sports 1 would likely quite enjoy adding St. Louis (and to a lesser extent the 11-county Dayton market) to their core CBB market. Only one way to know for sure:

You know what... Val Ackerman should just get on the phone now and extend invitations to Dayton and St. Louis. St. Louis is likely. Dayton, no. I wish these schools would commit to a more well rounded athletics program but too many of the Big East brethren do not subscribe to Georgetown'a athletic philosophy.

UConn over 'Nova 25-24 at the half. The Wildcats still look like they are in a hangover from the BET loss to the Hall.

I wish these schools would commit to a more well rounded athletics program but too many of the Big East brethren do not subscribe to Georgetown'a athletic philosophy. I mean, they have 17 varsity sports... seems reasonably well rounded. Also: University of Dayton investing $6M in athletic facility upgrades, which includes this intriguing tidbit: "The television market here ranked eighth-best in the country when it comes to college basketball for the second straight year, according to research analyzed by ESPN." From what I've seen (including their recent media blitz, including the US Airways inflight magazine haha), Dayton's administration is ambitious about growing the brand. Hosting the play-in games each year doesn't hurt either.

Syracuse basketball message board fully in meltdown lol
they are saying Boeheim should be fired after he made it to Final Four last year, and happy that Ennis is leaving to NBA when he has been carrying this team all season.
damn i thought we were the only spoiled fans XD

Sometimes subtle things like good timing play a role in a victory. Syracuse shot awful the entire game and seemed disinterested, but midway through the half they were on the verge of that archetypal high-seed run that breaks the will of an upset minded team: 10-2 over 3 1/2 minutes to take a 40-37 lead. That was the only time in the entire game when CJ Fair seemed to give a crap, and one of the few times the Buffalo crowd seemed alive. What's worse--Dayton called a TO to try and stop the run once they went down a point, but it didn't take...they scored out of the TO but gave up two baskets. I thought since it was under 8 minutes to go "boy, would you have the guts to call another timeout here" and as soon I finished the thought Vee Sanford turned it over and they went to the under-8 down three w/o the ball. A major danger point that probably should have been Syracuse's opening to the Sweet 16, but it ended up being Dayton's salvation: Ennis clanged a three out of the TO, Dayton scored the next seven and never trailed again.
Like Duke, Syracuse learned you can't hide your weaknesses forever.
