Watched this game on ESPN. Rabb only played a minute or two in the first half, but more in the second. I'm assuming his lack of PT was due to the ankle injury. He didn't look great on defense; his man went around him easily a few times. But he was guarding guys on the perimeter those times. He looked good on offense though; great footwork and quick feet for someone his height. Unlike others on his team, he never forced anything and tried to play a team game. Cough cough....ahem...Malik Newman...

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruitingon-the-trail/post/_/id/11308/biancardis-breakdown-tips-for-bestIvan RabbWhat he does best: After a very solid but not spectacular summer, Rabb is still more potential than player. His physical tools are a big part of his promise. He has size, speed, wing span, vertical jump, touch and footwork to be a difference-maker. Rabb will outrun opponents to finish in the lane with outstanding hands and in highlight fashion. Protecting the rim and rebounding are ways he influences the game. What to improve on: Rabb needs to establish a low-post game, learning how to post up with a low center of gravity by bending his knees in a wide stance to make and maintain contact with his defender. He needs to locate his man and make a move against a set defense by developing a counter move. He needs a mentality to dominate practices and games. With Rabb it's not about his talent it's about his production. He needs to make sure he puts his stamp on every game.

Wonder where would be a good place to develop that?

Wonder where would be a good place to develop that? That's a good question. And he, apparently, wants a "family" environment. I can't imagine what school has that. I know we've had Pat Jr. and now Trey Mourning and Riyan Williams. But does that say much? Oh yeah. Big John. Hall of Famer that recently presented Alonzo for induction. That doesn't sound very familial, does it? It would be nice if Georgetown had a summer league type thing where alums came back to help the newer Hoyas and looked out for them a bit. Oh, wait... But every school has that, right?

The kid is so eerily similar to GMonroe its crazy. It would seem that all we should have to do is show how Greg was used in our Offense and Ivan would be a lock...........I would think that it's going to be a little harder to get Ivan off the west coast than it was to get Greg to go a little farther north. It we could get two yrs with Ivan surrounded by Ike, LJ, and Paul the sky would be the limit........... The mentality sounds similar but they don't seem all that similar to me on the floor. Greg seemed to be the better facilitator from the get go. Ivan is the more athletic player and better on the break by a good amount. I do see what you're saying though. Then again, Greg does have probably 30 pounds on Ivan. Dude is really skinny.

It's been said before, but he looks like a more athletic version of Greg Monroe. Besides the left hand, kind of drives to the basket the same way Greg did. And he looks bigger than earlier videos. A roster with Rabb, Govan, Hayes, Ike, White and Trey... damn that's a whole lot of size.

zagsblog.com/articles/ivan-rabb-says-california-and-kentucky-will-make-final-5/As for his list of official visits, Rabb said, “I’m still trying to figure out my five. I think I want to cut my list to five before I set up my five officials.”
Asked if any schools would definitely make the final list, he 6-foot-10 Oakland (CA) Bishop O’Dowd forward said, “I can say Cal and Kentucky will definitely be on that list.”
He told SNY.tv at the Peach Jam that he talks with Malik Newman and Diamond Stone about possibly all joining forces in college, and mentioned Kentucky and Kansas as two possible landing spots.
“Yeah, those two definitely,” he said again Thursday.
Asked about the chance of the three of them joining forces, Rabb added: “It’s a really good possibility, but we’re all trying to make the best decisions for ourselves and our families. If it doesn’t work out, we’re still going to be best friends like we are right now. We’re like brothers, so I don’t think that will conflict with our friendships at all.”

I hope you're right Frazier. In the scheme of things, it probably means very little but it still wasn't encouraging to read when he was being questioned by a BE reporter.

Ok, I see it now. But, IMO, he isn't really saying anything different from a month ago. It would be great to play with those guys if it works out. But I'm my own man, etc. I think it is the same as it always was. Wait for the final list and get the visit, as you say. I think all this update does is shed more light on who else will be on his final list, which is something we could have probably guessed. Anyway, I lost my wallet yesterday, so I have to be optimistic about something.

He says we will absolutely be in this right to the end. While I appreciate the trust, things can change. At one time the staff was bullish on their chances....based on this article, who knows. Staff seems to be hedging now (as am I) but thankfully they never slowed their recruiting process and have covered themselves (see Govan). Obviously, the staff is still making a hard run at Rabb but the official visit they were confident they had coming sounds questionable. The discussion has changed from "when" to "if" he visits.

Well now that is a little disheartening. Our recruiting momentum seems to be in a tailspin.

Not to be a wet blanket here, but after talking to a UNC insider their staff feels he is Arizona's to lose. Way too many outside forces involved in pushing him in that direction.
