I think the momentum of our recruiting will really be determined more if we get a solid guard for 2015 than Ivan Rabb, who is a bit of a long shot to begin with. While we need a guard, our present 2014/2015 haul of Tre Campbell, Isaac Copeland, Paul White, and LJ Peak, plus Marcus Derrickson and Jesse Govan is extremely solid. I don't think you can fault the staff for Noah Dickerson leaving considering that a few weeks before he was claiming he loved Georgetown and couldn't wait to get started.
Add a solid guard to that list, and I think the 2014/2015 classes would be pretty solid. If we can put together a similar group for 2016/2017, I think we'll be fine. Of course, getting Rabb or one of the highly ranked guards would be absolutely wonderful.

Had a couple of recent disappointments but to use the term tailspin is absurd. We need a guard or two plain and simple.

Everybody seems to be panicking after that article and B&G's repsonse. Let's not forget all the nice things that he has said about our program . Trust the staff

Inasmuch as the choice is his and the staff has clearly worked hard, all we can do is hope he sees what GU has to offer.
If he chooses to go elsewhere, it is an occupational hazard of tying your fate to the whims of teenagers.
Georgetown will be fine either way.

We have known from the beginning that Rabb was going to be a very tough pull. The staff has clearly done is job here, so if Rabb does end up coming here, then that's great. If not, Govan, Derrickson, and possibly Tacko is more than enough for one class of big men.

I really just don't want to be that guy who misleads the board. As it is, I felt like I stepped out on a limb by saying we'd be in his final two...but if you knew what I knew, it really didn't seem far fetched. That being said, the longer this drags out, the worse it is for the Hoyas. We still have a shot, but we need that official visit that at one point seemed like a given.

I've never had high hopes of landing him. After the Nerlen Noels screw job by Kentucky, and seeing the Shaka Smart to Marquette #Done Deal nothing is a "Done Deal" till the guy steps on campus.

B&G...your insights into Hoya recruiting are the best thing on this board, at least for me. These kids can change their mind in an instant, and for any of a multitude of reasons. This does not just apply to athletes, btw. I happen to be an executive recruiter who places 40+ COO and CFO's for a living. These guys sign offer letters and then take another job, the night before their start dates! So...don't worry about misleading. We love the info, which we should all understand is just an educated guess, until the LOI is signed.

B&G, information only applies to that time and I'm sure I'm not alone in being thankful for your contributions on that front. Your info about changes in the situation are just as valuable as your information about Georgetown being in a good position to land Ivan a while back. It fills out the picture a little better for those of us with no real knowledge. As for the panic comment, I'm not seeing much of that outside of the "tailspin" hyperbole. I'm seeing people wanting to seem like they knew all along that we weren't in great shape when that wasn't the case at all according to someone with actual information. We're good as a fanbase now at tempering expectations. But, even with the disappointments, a guy like Noel would have learned more going to Georgetown. Rabb is in the same boat. He may go elsewhere. But he won't improve more if he does. That's less important than it used to be because the draft is more based on upside. It's a double-edged sword. I'd love to see Ivan become a Hoya because it's good for us and a good move for him. But if he doesn't, we'll be OK. The staff is working hard and doing what they can and pulling in guys like Govan. I'm just hoping we pull a solid guard too.

Is anyone else wishing that beenaround could find you a COO/CFO position? I'm wildly under-qualified but I wouldn't do the rug pulling thing the day before. That's not a sexy resume addition.

For what it's worth, Diamond Stone cut his list to 5, and only Duke is on Rabb's list and Duke is not on Newman's list.

It was a forgone conclusion earlier this year that he would pick the Wildcats. Now it looks as if UK has to go all-in on Rabb, right? Maybe more so out of pride than need.

3 on Stone's list were evident but UMD and Okie State are shocks.

3 on Stone's list were evident but UMD and Okie State are shocks. Maryland shouldn't be. Maryland was one of the first schools on him and Bino Ranson has made him his top priority over the last three years. I actually would have been shocked if Maryland wasn't in his top 5.
