I wonder what level of interest we have?

Kid has a lot of guard tools for a 6’6 player.Last i checked he was still saying GTown was showing interest but obviously our focus is on a PG

I agree, a PG and a SG/SF would be nice. I was looking at Davon Dillard for a quick minute but backed off when I read that he got into a fight with a team mate, but Peaks kinda did the same thing. So I'm back on Dillard.

Shouldn't we save the scholarships for the 2016 class unless we can get someone really good? Because the 2016 class will be the first class that will be able to use the new facility and that will be a big selling point. I really think that year we will have a monster class. For 2015, I think we are hurt by the fact that the new facility is one year away. Most of the 5 star and 4 stars think they will be one and done so the they may calculate that they won't benefit from the new facility.

Here's the issue with waiting on guards: we have five guards on the roster, including Bowen, who can play the 2.
Two are graduating. Two are NBA flight risks. Yeah, Paul White can probably help out with ball-handling, but if he's the second guard on the roster, we're in trouble next year.
And yes, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself on Peak and I don't think DSR is jumping, but in terms of being prepared, we need some depth there.

You could fill next year with a senior transfer if the situation dictates that (Peak/DSR jumping). That way the scholarship only takes up next year and you can offer a 4 year for the important 2016 year. I really think we are poised for a really huge 2016 recruiting class with the new facility and would like to have as many scholarships as possible. This years class is pretty big with 5 freshman, so to lock up 4 more for 2015 gives you 9 guys who will be here in 2016 barring someone going pro.

Keep in mind that we don't really get one and dones so the new facility could, potentially, still be a selling point for incoming kids next year.

I still think in the back of their heads (Noah for example) they are thinking facility won't be ready for me so I'll pass and go to a place that already has a great facility. It's a catch 22 because if you emphasize the new facility you are also showing them the subpar facility that you want to try to downplay. So the new facility really can't be a selling point until the kids will actually be the first ones to use it. That will be something to get excited about. I think we would have landed Dozier if the new facility was ready by next fall. That might have been the thing that gave us the edge on a tough decision. Like the year we had Porter-Markel-Hopkins-Trawick-Whittington recruiting. The big trip to China was a huge selling point IMO. For a guy from a small town like Otto, living in the nations capitol and going to China! may have given us the edge over instate Missouri, etc.

For a guy from a small town like Otto, living in the nations capitol and going to China! may have given us the edge over instate Missouri, etc. You could be right. I really have no idea. But don't the guys have a trip coming next year too? I guess I think about it more as there's no real way of hiding the lack of modern facilities. That's sort of in one's face. While tradition is one of our selling points, I assume they try to spin it that way in some regard. But I don't think there's anything lost by pumping the new facilities. It's not going to all of the sudden make them realize that we don't yet have a place with the bells and whistles. We get guys in spite of that. And, to be fair, there is a certain sense of history that does connect with the students. It did for me. I even loved living in St. Mary's (back when it was a dorm) even though it was the only dorm with no AC. Some of the outdated stuff made me feel the tradition. Then again, I'm a fairly strange person. Having said that, the new place will be great to have as a facility and a selling point. And an expression of the University's commitment to the athletes too. As for Dozier, I can't really disagree with you but I don't feel the same way about it (based on little else than this board and others). SC was not the place to pick for any basketball or education related reason. I really feel like the family connection won. Not that I think that's something that is necessarily a great thing considering the PJ's aspirations but it's difficult to knock as well.

Don’t think Johnson decides until the Spring so they probably have time if they choose to do that. He probably wants to play out his Senior year and see if he can increase his offers.

Seems like a good potential spring signing and think we should consolidate info on him. Especially if one of our wings performs, we will know by spring signing period.

What are your thoughts on PG Terrence Phillips from Oak Hill Yaboy?
Kid seems to be a high level ball handler/assist player.. Tough Defender also

Tough Defender also Haven’t seen enough to say but labeled as a poor shooter and small. If the staff is going to go after a pass first PG with a nice handle, court vision who can’t shoot well, would like them to take a look at Milik Gantz out of Harrisburg PA. 6’4, long as hell and has great court vision, can’t shoot though. Ricky Council II out of NC is another kid. Not necessarilly a PG though but 6’4 has solid athleticism and has a torch. Obviously PG is the need but kid can play and looks like he might be on the upswing. High academic kid also
