Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 3m3 minutes ago Curtis Jones displaying a vastly improved physique which has enabled greater athleticism and quickness in open floor. Game on the uptick Think there was some interest awhile back.. Curtis Jones "Indiana offered and I've been hearing a lot more from Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and G eorgetown has jumped back into the mix," Jones said. "

I know we have some interest - but have we even made an offer?

I thought I read somewhere on hoya talk that JT3 said we had 2 more recruits about to commit for us. Did I totally make this up? Do we expect any commitments?

My understanding is that JT3 said he could envision 2 more recruits in the next class. I don't think he ever said they were "about to commit."

Yeah, too bad we don't have a low post scoring threat on this year's team. Except for maybe that guy who might be one of the best low post scorers in the country.

I know any/ all criticism of our recent recruiting gets panned and dismissed very quickly on this board...so I want to be very clear that I think the staff has done an excellent job in the past year. The results will speak for themselves. This freshman class could do great things. Govan and Derrickson are excellent players. The recent signings give us a strong chance to be nationally relevant again. But those who dismiss our lack of guard depth, TALENTED guard depth, going forward, are drinking some strong wishful thinking kool-aid imo.
A peek at the guards from the last 7 National Champions-
2008 KU- Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush, Sherron Collins 2009 UNC- Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington 2010 Duke- Jon Scheyer, Nolan Smith, Andre Dawkins 2011 UCONN- Jeremy Lamb, Shabazz, Kemba Walker 2012 KY- Marquis Teague, Doran Lamb, Darius Miller 2013 LOU- Peyton Siva, Russ Smith 2014 UCONN- Shabazz, Ryan Boatright
Next years class is still a work in progress (we're talking about signing 2 and 3 star guards), but as of this moment, we've signed 2 natural guards (Campbell and Peak) in the last 3 classes. That isn't good enough. The list speaks for itself. Elite college basketball teams need elite guards, and right now, we are failing at getting the necessary guard talent. 2016 is going to be a very, very important recruiting year for us...

22. GEORGETOWN 2015 commits (National rank) C Jessie Govan (No. 45) PF Marcus Derrickson (No. 90) The Hoyas have recruited a pair of big bodies for 2015. Govan is a true back to the basket scorer while Derrickson is a burly four-man who likes to shoot jumpers out to the three-point line. www.elitehoopsreport.com/

Curtis Jones, 6’3, PG/SG, Huntington Prep (WV), 2016 A guy who has straight exploded on the recruiting scene, Curtis Jones appeared much more comfortable running the show for Huhntington Prep. The bouncy athlete was able to get past just about anyone on the way to the rack, converted at the rim, and made much more sound decisions with the ball in his hands. Still gaining experience as a lead guard, Curtis is definitely making strides in the right direction. www.slamonline.com/college-hs/high-school/2014-phenom-hoops-showcase-recap-video/

Jones has leapt to a strong start, leading Huntington to a 5-0 record. At this weekend’s Prep Phenom Showcase, Jones proved that he’s ready to take the next step as a player. He finished his weekend by leading all scorers with 21 points on Saturday night, as Huntington defeated High Point (N.C.) Christian 72-60. Quickness and end-to-end speed remain hallmarks of Jones’ game. He likes to push tempo and changes directions well on the move, enabling him to score at the rim. He’s also a solid playmaker who may be more of a combo guard in terms of directing halfcourt offense, yet he clearly possesses the talent to deliver timely passes to open teammates. His jump shot might be concerning from a mechanical standpoint, given that he shoots with his elbow out to the side rather than under the ball, but he did convert 3-5 on threes in two games this weekend and also knocked down 10-13 combined free throws. scouthoops.scout.com/story/1481339-major-offers-abound-for-jones?s=75
