Does anybody have any inklings on how much of a chance we actually have with this guy? At one time we had a very good shot with him. This was before any of his visits however and before Louisville got heavily involved. Blue - does that mean we don't have a good chance anymore, or just that we don't know where we stand?

Russ was great in college. Made the Pelicans roster, though doubtful as a rotation player. Given the Pelicans history with injuries, chances are he will get PT before the yr is over, though.

Lville insider update on Dozier louisville.247sports.com/Board/59440/Contents/Dozier-set-for-final-visit-32451610Basically says that UNC is out of it. Gtwn and South Carolina are the leaders and his mom really wants him to stay home. As for Gtwn "Word is that Dozier views the Hoyas offensive system as a good fit for his style of play". On the other hand he understand he is not a typical Lville guard and has reservations about that

In case anybody wants a little bit of trivia, the last player from the University of South Carolina to make it to the NBA was Renaldo Balkman.

Everybody has a different take on this (and I know for local recruits we would have a different spin), but if you can, I think your chance for the most personal growth in college can be to get away from your comfort zone and try something different. SC isn't that far from DC as it is still on the east coast. He will likely get instant PT at either Gtown or South Carolina but do you want to play basketball in a football conference that has never been terribly relevant in hoops or do you want to go to a hoops conference on a team that is nationally relevant. This seems like an obvious choice and he has another SC native on the current roster to bounce ideas off of. Fingers crossed!

Hundred different influences going on it seems, but in general I hope: 1) PJ's mom is like any mom who wants her kid close to home, and PJ is like most kids that want to get away for college to grow independently 2) PJ doesn't get wrongly sold on Louisville's system, and that he does penalize them a bit for choosing someone over him and treating him like sloppy seconds
If my wishful thinking holds, we have a definite chance..hehe.

Still hopeful...fingers crossed. We were on very solid ground before the Louisville decommit. Still think we have a decent shot here. Staff firmly believes that we'd get this kid NBA ready fairly quickly....Hollis 2.0 with better ball skills.

We have to keep in mind that South Carolina is a pretty terrible basketball program.
Here are their last five years: 2009-10: 15-16, 6-10 SEC 2010-11: 14-16, 5-11 SEC 2011-12: 10-21, 2-14 SEC 2012-13: 14-18, 4-14 SEC 2013-14: 14-20, 5-13 SEC
They haven't appeared in the NCAA tournament since 2004. If Dozier really wants to sign up for that over Georgetown, then that's his loss. Louisville would make more sense.

Despite their recent struggles they do have some talent, and should be better this year. They are really pushing that stay at home vybe to the local kids. Mom’s also wants him to stay at home supposedly (like most mothers). He also would be the face of the program and the man on the team with Sindarius. South Carolina has a lot of positives going for them and Martin can recruit.

So the Hoyas247 writer just predicted that South Carolina would get him, despite the bias of being a Gtown reporter. Don't have access to their forum, but I'm not getting my hopes up - South Carolina and Louisville both strong possibilities (in addition to us).

Much as I loathe to admit it, Pitino is a top-notch coach and having such strong family ties to SC and living in the area has to be a strong pull too. Georgetown has been on him for quite a while and has been consistent. Fingers crossed.

The way I'm reading the tea leaves - we haven't offered Galen, but it looks like if PJ goes somewhere else, we'll offer and get Galen Robinson.
