As a recruit, you don't want to go somewhere that might A) lose the coach, b) not play in the tourney when the lights are the brightest. Many a player has played their way into the lottery with stellar NCAA runs.

different situations. The unc thing has to do with alot of programs. Mens Basketball is one of the least implicated things as opposed to Womens basketball and football. This siutation is all basketball. They will get a severe penalty as a program and I doubt Pitino will stay. This is different then giving a recruit a car. This is multiple crimes that were fostered by a representative of the program. They are gonna get hit very hard. I doubt Pitino will stay thru a 2 or 3 year tourney ban.

Agreed. Pretty serious violations. And 2 to 3 years down the road, when the NCAA decides to assign an intern to investigate, then some major penalties might eventually come.

10K on a grad assistants salary just doesn't make sense though. Unless that was money filtered by an agent (not good either), then either Pitino knew or a more senior assistant knew. Either way, no bueno. Back to the ? Was King really looking at the Hoyas prior to Cardinal commit? Or were we just a top 10 that got dropped quickly?

Was listening to ESPN radio yesterday. Their take on likely scenarios was that nothing would ever come of this. Thought was that it is too easy for a big Louisville booster to offer McGee a nice guaranteed job for the rest of his life provided he tells the NCAA nothing. They can't legally compel him to tell them anything. Without him case likely goes away unless someone else comes on record to say what happened. Why would they?

Providing prostitutes to students and recruits by an employee of the university on university property is going to come to nothing? I find that hard to believe. So what if he remains silent, which he should since there is a criminal investigation. The testimony of the madam, the girls, and the documentary evidence of the text messages, the wire transfer assuming they are represented accurately is enough of a circumstantial case against McGee, if not Pitino. Lack of institutional control, isn't it? And that sets aside the criminal investigation which will no doubt have cooperating witnesses who may point the finger at McGee/Louisville. There are plenty of avenues to get to the truth.

If it's the NCAA knocking on the door the school and players will circle the wagons and it will disappear. If it's the DA or even the Feds watch how quickly everyone turns on each other.

I dont think they saw the evidence this woman has if they are saying this. She kept track of everything in a ledger. She has pictures of her with players(hanging out in the residence hall) and with McGee in the residence hall so he cant claim he doesnt know her. They also have 7 girls who have confirmed everything she is saying. Sorry this wont just "go away" If Lyle truly confirmed to the NCAA that it happened they have enough

Yeah, it's nonsense to think this goes away if McGee stays silent. Dense is right with about all the evidence, not to mention that some of the recruits have confirmed it too.

The instagram post by Blakeney is my favorite. Lol. For those that didnt see he reposted a picture of the girl who Direct messaged him "remember me from the embassy suites"(this was a girl sent to him after McGee has taken the job at UMKC) that Powell said she was given a hotel room and told to entertain the recruit and his guardian. Blakeney then says in the DM. "Yea i remember you whats up"

I dont have a link it was in the OTL report yesterday. Watch that. Alot of people in the media were commenting without seeing the report. Bob Ley dont mess around. They got alot of evidence that points that this is going on in some realm of the basketball department even if it is booster funded. McGee did the Blakeney thing after he was at UMKC. So he felt like he had to help Pitino even after he left or he was just the point guy so he could easily be the fall guy.

Sorry this wont just "go away" If Lyle truly confirmed to the NCAA that it happened they have enough Perhaps it won't go away but it was ESPN that broke the story and the guys discussing it included one of the journalists who broke the story. Just passing along their spin on it. I think their point was that Deflategate has taught us that what a private organization can do to punish someone is different than what is determined by a criminal investigation. Certainly the ncaa could use any criminal proceedings as part of their investigation but no one has to testify before the ncaa. If ultimately there is no criminal case and records are sealed the case changes potentially. That was just their spin on it yesterday afternoon FWIW. I don't know which way it will go but unless Louisville moves to fire Pitino in the next week I doubt anything happens for quite some time.
