Yeah Tom Welsh must've been thinking of the old Providence coach.

Figured this would be the best place to post this since a "big" is still a top priority for the program.. www.theintentionalfoul.com/2013/10/usa-camp-2015-big-men.htmlI hate the use of this word when it comes to G'town recruiting but D. Stone would be "perfect" for JT3's system and would compliment the 2014 class very very well. I refuse to get my hopes up though.. Diamond Stone, C, 6’10”, Dominican H.S. (WI), #3 There are a plethora of good big men in the class of 2015 and Diamond Stone staked his claim as the best of the bunch in Colorado Springs. The big man was adept at finishing with both hands in the post and probably had the strongest off-hand (left) of any big man in camp. Stone also showed that he could sprint the floor which resulted in some easy baskets for the big fella. On occasion he stepped out of the paint and displayed a nice touch on his jump shot. During the AAU season Stone proved that he could step out to the three point line but in Colorado he kept his jump shots to within 15 feet. On the defensive side, Stone used his size to keep defenders away from the basket and forced them into tough fade-aways. While not exactly a “springy” center Stone did block the occasional shot and showed why most of the big name college programs have made him a priority in the class of 2015.Ivan Rabb is a player too.. I also found it interesting that Henry Ellenson (who I think can play the 5 here) states that Creighton & Iowa State are recruiting him the hardest right now. Seems to me he'd have better options.. I really wish the staff would take a chance on a shooting big for once, it could allow the offense to run at a higher efficiency..

Yaboy posted this info in the T. Mann thread but I also posted it here so that thread didn't get hijacked.. 4:45 Tilton v. Lee Academy Today
III is in the building, also watched Ike play earlier. His team won 72-67
@adamfinkelstein: Kevin Ollie, Ed Cooley, Brian Gregory, & John Thompson III all on hand at @hoopmtn Prep Classic
I hope while watching Ike today JT3 took a good look @ Matt Cimino who plays for Worcester Academy. He's a 6-9 or 10 220 lb pf/c who's very skilled offensively. He'll need time to develop but I'd take a chance on him, he'd be a good role type player for the 2014 class. The team needs a big in this class in the worst way.. Rivals has him ranked @ 138, ESPN gives him a grade of 79(same grade as Tre Campbell) insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/evaluation/_/id/122820/matt-ciminoStrengths:A super skilled player with good size and length, Cimino has the tools to blossom into a versatile forward. He has a tremendously smooth shooting stroke and is already a very dependable three-point shooter when in rhythm. He is already a mismatch problem with the ability to go to the low post and turn either shoulder around the rim. His hand is so advanced that he can even make little runners when facing up and attacking off the dribble. Weaknesses:An only average athlete, Cimino doesn't project capable of defending the perimeter at the next level and so will need to work hard in the weight room to build up his frame so that he is capable of battling in the post, especially on the defensive end. Most important will be further experience against a high level of competition as he learns to get his shot off quickly and adjust to the speed and physicality of a high level game. Bottom Line:A tremendously skilled player who already poses a major mismatch problem, if Cimino dedicates himself to getting stronger and learns to adjust to the speed and physicality of a competitive game, he will have a very bright future. He had 21 against Brewster today and 21 on Friday against South Kent Prep.. Here's some write up & tweets about his play this weekend.. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/3341/Hoop-Mountain-Prep-Classic-Day-1-Recap.phpA back and forth dog fight throughout all 40 minutes so neither team able to extend a lead beyond 7 points. Matt Cimino led Worcester with 21, once again showing his ability to stretch the floor and knocking down the three ball. Another sophomore sensation, Saul Phiri, chipped in with 15 points for Worcester. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/3343/Hoop-Mountain-Prep-Classic-Day-3-Recap.phpBrewster Academy 72 Worcester Academy 67
Worcester came out of the gates ready to go, knocking down three threes and opening with an 11-1 run. The Bobcats fought back quickly though, setting the stage for a back and forth 40 minutes that wouldn't be decided until the final buzzer sounded.
Brewster was led by their backcourt tandem of Devonte Graham and Donovan Mitchell, who both finished with 17 points while also coming up with key plays defensively. Isaac Copeland continued to show glimpses of his huge upside while Jarred Reuter and Kevin Zabo finished in double figures as well. Matt Cimino had a terrific game for Worcester, dropping 21 points while proving his ability to operate with his back to the basket.
[/b] Sherwyn Cooper @ballastv 8h Very impressed with Matt Cimino as of late playing like that big time prospect everyone expected him to be early on his career. HoopDreamsMag.com @hoopdreamsmag 11h Matt Cimino has played great, makes shoots, and just converted a nice jump hook over his right shoulder #prepclassic Rivals Nation @rivalsnation 3h Matt Cimino a monster day @ the @hoopmtn Prep Classic. A factor on both ends of floor knocking down shots, finding open man,& protecting rim A buddy of mine is an alum of BC and says their staff is very interested in Cimino(Mann too but let's not get crazy, haha)

Here's a quick look at this Cimino kid I've been high on.. Unfortunately the highlights he has in this clip come at Copelands expense but Brewster did get the win... @ the 30 second mark of the clip you see JT3 & Broadus in the building Click on the tab for Hoop Mountain recap.. www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/

but who? we seem to focus on combos more than true PG's. Which is smart Imo.. Gtown’s best bet to get a high level pg here is to take a Combo Guards or a skilled 2 and sell him on transitioning to the point IMO… I don’t remember the last high level point whose final list we were even on tbh.. Dwayne Bacon or Terrance Mann might fit that category..

Think it’s a tie between Center and Guard. 99% of the players we’re on are guards or post players in this class.

Like that Yaboy, but how much chance do we have for Bacon? Not really sure, but better at the PG spot than at the SF or SG where most on his list are recruiting him. Kid likens himself to Tyreke Evans so it’s pretty clear he sees himself as a big Point more than a SF. Also seemed very excited about the offer so that’s good.. In state Miami and FSU are recruiting him, Florida is not.

point guard, point guard, point guard I'm all for getting a guard in the 2015 class whether it's a combo or a "true" pg, I'll be good either way. Part of the reason why is that I know the staff has Tre coming in for 2014 to learn and play the point but they don't have any post type big coming in the 2014 class. After next season when Hopkins, Josh & Moses are gone, the only post type player on the roster will be Hayes.. I think a lot of Hayes but that's a big chance to take imo.. I'd take a chance on landing a Cimino or Anas Mahmoud or Michal Cekovsky or Tim Rowe or Zach Haney ect.. There are post type kids out there still and I think the staff should be doing their due diligence to see if anyone is worth it for 2014.. Truth be told I think the staff is done for 2014 and I also think it's a mistake. insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruitingon-the-trail/post/_/id/7806/getting-creative-to-finish-2014-classes1. Analyze and evaluate: At this point, odds are that programs aren’t finding a diamond in the rough that is going to come in and put up huge numbers from Day 1. That doesn’t mean good players can’t be found. The best way to find value in an over saturated market is to pinpoint the specific niche that you’re looking for. The most cohesive teams are ones that are built with a combination of dynamic playmakers and what Seth Greenberg has dubbed “blend” players -- guys who do whatever is necessary for the good of the team, and there are still plenty of those types of players to be found. Whether you’re looking for an outstanding perimeter defender, offensive ball-mover, or court-spacer the key is to know exactly what your roster needs and evaluate specifically for your system while also accounting for intangibles, like toughness and unselfishness, necessary to thrive in such a role.
The dynamic players for the team starting next year will be the versatile forwards the staff has landed, now they need to find some good role players..

Keep an eye on them both! Nice moves and fundamentals to set up his shot... he even lowers the shoulder, bumps defender to create space for his jumper... He will not get away with those bumps in college, but I like how he creates his shot. That hook is priceless.

I know it's just a highlight video, but Cimino seems to have a nice touch from all three levels and appears to be a better athlete than some reports suggested. Does anyone know if we are actively recruiting him? His skillset is very much needed at the 4/5; it's just too easy for opposing defenses to ignore Moses/Hopkins/Lubick from outside 5 feet. Which in turn enables opponents to double DSR and Starks.

JT3 & Broadus saw him play well in a game against Brewster Academy in a December tourney..
