Duke embracing the Calipari method! We saw how Alex Murphy was pushed away. It will be interesting to watch how he handles the egos.

Looks like our Big 3 have done some serious climbing in the rankings. Not that the rankings mean that much, but I guess it means people are taking notice of improved play this season.

The best tidbit:
"5. Risers in the class UCLA signee Thomas Welsh (Los Angeles/Loyola) and Georgetown signees Paul White (Chicago/Whitney Young) and Isaac Copeland (Raleigh, N.C./Brewster Academy) are having strong senior campaigns. Welsh is fundamentally sound on the blocks with his post-up game and productive in his rebounding. He is a worker who has played his way into the McDonald’s All American Game. White has been focused this season and, with his versatility, has shown the skill to play multiple spots on the floor. Copeland always had the tools, skill and athletic ability, but this season has been about putting it all together.
Brewster head coach Jason Smith said Copeland has fully developed and gone from prospect to player.
"[Copeland is] averaging 17 points per game, as well as 11 rebs. We've had some great hybrid forwards the past few years such as: JaKarr Sampson, CJ Fair, and Melvin Ejim. He's on par with all of those guys. Very versatile and a tough matchup,” Smith said. "

Highest ranked group of recruits we've had in a single class since Macklin, Summers and Rivers. For some reason, think we will get a lot more out of the new guys.

ACC (Including Louisville): 16 Big East: 14 B1G (including Rutgers and Maryland): 14 SEC: 13 PAC 10: 12 AAC: 4 Big 12: 6
With only 10 teams, the Big East really did a nice job of recruiting. I think everyone had a top 100 recruit with the exception of DePaul, Butler, and St. Johns

You gotta think (or at least hope), that the caliber of the guys coming in becomes a recruiting tool itself. "You're the only missing piece from legitimately vying for a national championship."

Looks like an awesome class. I try not to get too excited and the following write up from 2010 on Lubick (ranked 48) should help...
February, 2009: Lubick will surprise opposing interior defenders by taking them out on the perimeter and sticking the 3-point shot if they do not come out to honor the shot.

To be fair, he was shooting the ball well -- or a lot better than he is now -- in high school and was projected to develop further. But your point is well taken. Just take a look at the rest of Nate's class to see how hit and miss the rankings can be. (A lot of great players were ranked in the 80-110 level, including Markel while Josh Smith was ranked very high) Unsurprisingly, there does seem to be a closer correlation between how these players' careers played out and where they were ranked as you move further up. sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/rankings/rank-1909

Wow, that Lubick write up is laughable at this point. I'm saddened to hear that his jumpshot was decent in high school and became non-existent in college...

Paschal Chukwu, the guy at a Jesuit HS with connections to Georgetown, is only one spot behind that big guy that everyone thought we absolutely had to get and was our first priority.
