Well, that answers the question of who is leaving to make room for both Hardy and Sutton.
Good luck to Hunter, but I'm glad to see some highly regarded new guys on the Hoya Bench. Something Pops should have done years before he finally resigned. Stagnation isn't good for anyone.

Nebraska...basketball? Seems like a strange move.

Doug Gottlieb has a predictable reaction. "Nebraska pays,GTown doesn't- why are we surprised?" and "Big10 AHCs get HC jobs too,Miles is phenomenal to work for/GTown in MM league"

Is this a complete turnover of coaching staff in the last 2 years?

We won't know why any of these moves were made, but the fact is that after a disappointing post-season, John Thompson III has made changes, and we should acknowledge that. Based on everything I know, it seems that Hardy and Sutton are big upgrades when it comes to recruiting, and if they can add something from a game management perspective that would be great, as well.
I know many people have been critical of JT3's assistants when it came to recruiting. The overhaul we have seen over the last 2 years has greatly enhanced us (or seems to - we'll see if the results are different) and I am hoping it will make a difference in not only recruiting, but also in our performance and preparation, especially for the post-season.
That said, based on what we know, Hunter has conducted himself professionally and I am sure he did contribute to the program's success, and I wish him the best.

Georgetown doesn't have the budget to pay for big time assistants as III eats up all the money available. The B1G split is about $25M from the conference plus their own revenue from football, vb, bb and wrestling. The B1G probably is forcing the children of the corn to upgrade it's bb program We watched coach Flo leave to get a big raise.

At least it's good to know that Rattlieb hasn't lost his talent for being an utter and complete tool at any opportunity.
Sort of reassuring.

Good luck to Coach Hunter! Seems like we're getting upgrades in coaching and recruiting. Time will tell.

If I've learned anything in the past week, it's that Georgetown has no opportunity of competing with B1G programs for basketball assistants. There's NO WAY that an assistant, faced with a choice between coaching at a program in the B1G and coaching at Georgetown, will choose Georgetown. Especially if he has any ties to the B1G program. That coach will NEVER choose Georgetown over a B1G program. No chance. None whatsoever.

Georgetown doesn't have the budget to pay for big time assistants as III eats up all the money available. Huh? Georgetown has the seventh largest basketball budget in the nation, $10 million, of which the head coaches' salary is roughly 20 percent of this. A lot of sports at Georgetown can justly complain about a lack of salary resources to retain its best coaches, but men's basketball just isn't one of them.

The Hoya program does not suffer from financial support with the exception of one category--facilities. Unless and until the facilities upgrade is complete, the Hoyas will continue to be perceived as a big time program with small time facilities. Having seen the commitments made at Western schools like New Mexico, UNLV, and now SDSU, it is a shame that the Hoya coaches are still trying to recruit with substandard facilities. In the past, the lure of the Big East could overcome the fact that a recruit would not have the same quality of facilities as might be had in another school. The New Big East is going to be perceived as mid-major until it proves otherwaise. That could happen this year, but until then the idiots like Gottlieb will continue to propagate an image of the school athletic program as poorly financed.

Agreed. No way Georgetown could land an assistant coach from the B1G.

And if Gottlieb and certain posters want to portray a move from GU hoops to Cornhusker hoops as an upgrade, then they are completely devoid of either analytic ability or objectivity. Or both.

Hunter didn't "decide" to leave. It was "decided" for him.

You made my point for me, after III gets his big salary, there is nothing left for the staff. The B1G has several asst. coach make $500K. As far the corn kids, there is a lot of talent out there, didn't Otto come from SW MO?
