Trayvon Reed
Notable Nuggets
2014 Shiloh (GA) center Trayvon Reed had a good weekend, and continues to get better. Defensively, he is making the most of his time out there. Running the floor fairly well, the 7-foot-2 specimen continues to work on his offensive presence. With the goal to improve his jump hook shot, and consistently posting up on defenders, Reed is definitely showing signs of improvement. He rattled off a list of Georgia Tech, Auburn, UConn, Georgetown, Kansas, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Maryland, Wake Forest and Florida, who he is considering among others. His goal is to sign next spring, as opposed to deciding in the fall.

Danjel Purifoy 2015
The Cahawba Christian (AL) small forward, Purifoy, is a long, athletic wing who excels at driving to the basket, getting others involved and is improving his jumper. He must gain acceptance for making contact when driving to the basket as that is holding him back from being an elite wing when in attack mode. The likes of Michigan State, Florida State, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgetown, Kentucky, UAB, Georgia and Georgia Tech are recruiting him. With a strong showing on the AAU circuit, Purifoy has a chance to be a very good prospect, and an even better finished product.

Doral Moore 2015 Speaking of talented prospects, the upside of Moore is through the roof. A 6-foot-11 center from Luella (GA), he does his damage on the defensive side of the ball, but can be explosive in spurts in the post. When fed the ball around the basket, Moore threw down a number of thunderous dunks that he made look fairly easy. With an elite body, his development could lead him to a big future in basketball. Mississippi State, Indiana, Georgia, George Mason, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Florida State and Georgetown all believe so as these schools are tracking him fairly hard. Originally from Louisville, Moore wouldn't mind playing for the Cardinals or another powerhouse in college hoops.

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/national/post?id=6423Most Improved Jared Nickens (Monmouth Junction, N.J./Westtown) 2014, 6-6, 190, G/F Offers: Oregon State, Providence, Seton Hall, St. Joseph’s and Temple. This was the second straight Pittsburgh Jam Fest championship for Nickens and Sports U, but his role has evolved quite a bit in the last twelve months. A year ago he was a pretty one-dimensional scorer. His long and lean build intrigued you, but his role was essentially to space the floor and make defenders pay for helping off him. While his jumper is still his primary weapon, he’s become one of the primary playmakers for this team. He’s put on some bulk, improved his handle and now features a runner in the lane – three facets that should make him more lethal against rotating defenders. Add in his ability to make tough shots -- like the game winner he knocked down on Saturday -- and his contributions to the team’s second title was notably more than the first.

insider.espn.go.com/blog/dave-telep/post/_/id/3471/best-of-the-adidas-vip-exclusive-runTop Performer Brandone Francis (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day) 2014, PG, 6-5, 205 Those who knew about him in advance expected a breakthrough performance. However, many were taken by his new look (he’s down 18 pounds) and his renewed approach. At 6-foot-5 and more than 200 pounds, Francis is an outlier for the point guard position. It's easy to see he's taken the Deron Williams approach to the position. Their release points, body styles, mid-range games and mannerisms are similar. Francis plays with the outward passion of Greivis Vasquez. He's a big scoring point who you have to see more than once to appreciate his aptitude and fit at the point. The event's MVP, Francis should become an upper-tier prospect overnight. Florida, Miami, Illinois, Kansas State, Georgetown, LSU, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are all involved.
Please let this be true and if it is I hope the staff is very agressive in their approach with him. Time to stop slow playing some kids while you're being wait listed by the "locals"

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/national/post?id=6410Biggest Revelations Terry Larrier (Bronx/Phelps School) 2014, WF, 6-7, 180 Club Team: Team Scan Status: Claims offers from VCU, UConn, Miami, Georgetown, Villanova, Maryland, Providence, St. Joes, Siena and Drexel. Larrier is the type of prospect who has his finger tapped on every aspect of the game. The willowy 3-man fills the lane in transition, roams the defensive end looking to pounce and has active hands on the boards. He needs to clean up his jump shot, but his approach will give you a chance to win each time out. Stocks on the rise Dion Wiley (Potomac, Md./Oxon Hill) 2014, SG, 6-4, 195 Club Team: Team Takeover Status: Claims offers from Georgetown, Maryland, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Cincinnati. This nationally ranked guard was dominant this weekend in many facets. His jump shot was smoking off the catch and the dribble and he moves well without the ball. He can post up and convert as well, but it was his strength and shooting prowess that caught our eye. Biggest Sleepers Mikal Bridges (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) 2014, SF, 6-6, 180 Club Team: Team Final Mikal is a long and thin wing with a lot of ability and upside and he got better and better as the weekend went on. Bridges has nice skills but is best when he is able to shoot with his feet set. He may have come into the EYBL without much of a reputation outside of Philadelphia but could become a priority for colleges throughout the East and Midwest.

Heck, he had me at 6'5' PG.

I've seen enough in the clips of him to believe he can be just as good if not better than Booth or Wiley or Newton and after hearing the rave reviews he got for his play this weekend I definitely think he's worth a look. Dave Telep tweeted that Francis was a fringe high major kid at the start of the weekend but finished the weekend tweeting he is a high major pg. If you follow Telep at all he rarely gushes about non top 100 kids. To be honest I feel similar about Jared Nickens & Devin Robinson too both have improved a lot this past season.

Carlton Bragg PF 2015 (Staff watched him this weekend)
Was impressive over the weekend and is one of the top recruits in 2015.. Mobile PF that can shoot it from the outside and put it on the floor. The staff made the trip out to Ohio a couple times this year to watch Bragg. Just a name to keep an eye on...

I love where he blows up Kid with the crossoverwith the spin moves, he can already initiate our offense! Thanks Etomic.

Yaboynyp - thanks for all this info! Based on who the staff watched and offered the first weekend, who seem to be the coaches' top choices for 2014 and 2015?

Yaboynyp - thanks for all this info! Based on who the staff watched and offered the first weekend, who seem to be the coaches' top choices for 2014 and 2015? Keep in mind last week was the first week it was open to coaches. The big Nike event was in LA and Gtown did not make the trip out as far as I know. Takeover, Houston Hoops (Kelly Oubre) Team Philly (JaQuan Newton) etc were in LA so we will find out more in the next couple weeks. Players that we know the staff watched over the weekend or have high interest in: Diamond Stone 5 star center 2015 Brennan and III both tracked him all weekend Derrick Jones 6’7 SF 2015 4/5 star Ben Bentil 6’8 PF 2014 4 star Kevon Looney 6’9 SF 5 star Trayvon Reed 7’1 Center 2014 Carlton Bragg 6’8 PF 2015 5 Star Edit: Was told by someone who would know that Broadus was in LA tracking Rashad Vaughn 5 star SG 14 To name a few…
