At the risk of getting killed here, I can't help but be impressed by the way Boeheim has acted with respect to the break-up of the Big East. Although Pitino has also been remorseful, he is still prone to his emotional swings, depending upon whether his team just won or lost. Boeheim has consistently bemoaned the fact that a great league has been ruined by football greed. Hard to say much nice about a guy I grew up hating but even in the aftermath of two bad losses to the Hoyas, he has stayed on message.

What a cathartic game.
Much has been said on this thread and elsewhere, so I'll just add a few personal observations:
- Markel and DSR won that game (duh)
- If you had said Moses would score before Otto ... I would not have been surprised. Nothing could have surprised me yesterday.
- Big John was holding up my buddy's scarf at the end of the game (my buddy was really stoked).
- As much as I feel dirty saying this, almost every 'cuse fan I met yesterday was polite, knew hoops, and regretful that the Orange were heading to the ACC. I say almost, because the guys with the <middle finger> Georgetown shirts in the box above 103 were certainly not polite.
- Has a Gtown team in the JTIII era ever shredded the 2-3 zone the way our Hoyas did yesterday?
- 39 points. 39 POINTS. Did anyone think we'd hold 'cuse to LESS than the 46 we held them to in the Dome?
- GREAT JOB GU BAND! It's not easy playing one normal game, much less playing for 2 hours BEFORE a game.
- Gameday was kind of a bust. It would have been much better if they were playing the audio feed to the fans in the arena. Instead, all we got was pre-game music for 2 hours.
- Nicely done, production team, in honoring our many greats during timeouts, in presenting Big Pat with the Top 75 trophy, and generally just keeping the atmosphere at the Booth electric.
- Bravo, Stonewalls. That tifo was epic. And personal bravo to Kurt for continuing to wave the big gray flag during the courtrush* and trophy presentation.
- *I feel both ways about the courtrush. On one hand, we were the higher-ranked team and favored to win, and we won by 22 pts. On the other hand, it was THIS GAME. Every fanbase gets a mulligan once in a while, I guess.
- Jack was spectacular in his final box eating. We'll miss you, Jack. Enjoy your retirement.
- Man, the bars were PACKED afterward
HOYA freakin' SAXA

C2c Hoya - you clearly did not walk through the alley or into the gallery before the game where drunk Syracuse fans where shouting down obscenities from the balcony and generally behaving like the criminals they are.

A friend of mine who is a big SU booster told me Boeheim has been planning to coach for 2 more years, but he sounds and acts like he has had enough. It would be fitting for him to retire along with the original BE.

Congrats to the students who seemed to really step up to provide the atmosphere, including camping out the night before. It looked like the MCI has never before. In one season, the stonewalls are quickly becoming the predominant fan club in the country! Stonewalls>Cameron Crazies

Now that is over....what the heck was ESPN focusing so much on Gerry McNamara when going down memory lane? He got more play than Carmello, Billy Owens, Seikley, Sherman Douglass, Mourning, Ewing, Reggie, Iverson, Sleepy, etc. etc. The Pearl got the most attention but at least he was one of the elite greats of the BE. Gerry Mc? Very good (albeit limited) player but not worth all that adoration.

Didn't happen to see / experience that. Also, didn't venture up to the 400s, so probably didn't see the reported shenanigans up there either.

Syracuse basketball vs Georgetown: Brent Axe recap | syracuse.com "Georgetown is a team that wants to drag an opponent down in the mud pit and not let them out. Their game is anything but pretty, but it is effective.”

In regards to the Gameday show, I'm pretty sure it is always a let-down in person. I've been to two, and got bored pretty quickly.

That is actually not what I was trying to say at all. Nice try, though. They had a weird placement for the announcers yesterday, so of course it looked not hyped with two rows of students able to be seen.
My point was that it isn't fun to watch a talk show with no volume.

My point was that it isn't fun to watch a talk show with no volume. Unlike other gamedays in which the crew arrives at the arena in the morning for a nighttime game that will follow hours later, the Verizon gameday setup had to deal with the fact that an actual contest would immediately follow the morning broadcast.

It was a great game and a great regular season. I can't wait to get home to see how the game looked on Tv.
We have won all year with great team defense and that was especially true yesterday. I thought Syracuse's defense was also very good for much of he game, especially in the first half. However, we were patient, did not try to force the ball to Otto when he was triple-teamed, and shot the ball well from outside. I see that we turned it over on 25 percent of our possessions in the first half, but it did not seem like to me as the game was played. I don't recall us giving them many easy points off turnovers.
We sometimes get labelled a one-man team, and Otto is certainly deserving of every accolade he gets. But it does not seem like he or anybody else on our team believes that we are a one-man team. To be up seven after a first half in which Otto only scored one point was a tribute to the entire team and especially the team defense.
As several people noted, Markel and DSR came up huge. I thought Markel set the tone with the first 8 points and if I remember correctly the first two steals. DSR has such a nose for the ball. We neded Kel's and DSR's shooting, but the rebounds, steals, and assists were just as important. I remember being at the games at Barclays earlier this year and turning to my wife and saying that DSR looked lost on defense, and she responded, "he's a disaster." Flash forward to yesterday, when DSR had managed to take a loose ball away from Syracuse, and I turned to my wife and said, "I think that DSR might be just a tough as Jabril." High praise indeed!
Whatever happens from here on out, these Hoyas have left a footprint. They will hang a banner in McDonough. And the old Big East will end with the Hoyas having as many regular season titles as Cuse and UConn and more Big East Tournament wins than any other team. In other words, we have been the best team in the best basketball conference of the last thirty years. Now let's stay hungry and win the Big East Tournament.

- Bravo, Stonewalls. That tifo was epic. And personal bravo to Kurt for continuing to wave the big gray flag during the courtrush* and trophy presentation. 118 is better than most in this regard, but as is to be expected there were still a handful of Syracuse fans who purchased scalped tickets in the section. It's amusing to wonder what those folks must have been thinking they'd gotten themselves into, particularly the ones near the back who ended up under a gigantic tifo and staring at 15 flags and assorted mini-tifos all afternoon. Sooooo...I sit in Row A in the front of 118. The two seats next to me have been vacant the entire season (the Ticket Office is getting a call about this) and were sold for yesterday (only time all season) to a very reserved younger couple of Cuse fans (the guy declined to take off his hoodie). They were basically shell-shocked the entire game. I heard exactly three things from them all afternoon: they clapped once in the first half when MCW made a dunk, the guy said "One minute to go?" to coordinate when they'd bolt at halftime, and "Do you wanna leave now?" before the last media timeout--she did. Legit question for the folks who sit near me--did you even know there were Cuse fans sitting there? We also had a nominee yesterday in 118 for the "WG Award for Excellence in Opposing Fans": four Cuse fans came down front next to me at halftime to take a group photo. I asked if they'd gotten the scoreboard in the background, and one member tried to shut me down with "YEAH? WELL WE'VE WON A CHAMPIONSHIP AND YOU HAVEN'T!" So, you know, in addition to closing the rivalry and the Big East championship, Happy Scalper Liberation Day!

I was at the game. Sit in cheap seats, 400 section, and therefore always have to deal with opponents fans. Cuse fans are always the worst but the slaughter was so complete they really had little to say during or after the game yesterday. Not talking anything away from the Hoyas but what was Boeheim thinking? Does he ever adjust his game plan? We lose to Nova thanks in part to committing 20+ turnovers and Boeheim never has them press or trap? Losing by 10+ points late in the game and they stay in the 2-3 zone? My buddies concluded Boeheim gave up early on and this may be a sign of him retiring soon. Anyone else at the game feel the same?

The way the orangeboys have been playing for the last month they aren't good enough for a mud pit.
