As long as Othella Harrington is on that bench, I have no worries about bigs developing..

id, I'd say the difference between Hayes and Bolden is that, while neither looks capable this year, Bolden's game has supposedly been static for 3 years. Would love to redshirt Hayes (like Gonzaga did with Olynyk), because I can't see him getting minutes over Josh and Moses (and to a lesser extent, Mikael) at the 5 for the next two years. Think there's still promise with Hayes, and you always want to give a big like that enough time to develop. I'm not confident that we'll get anything out of Bolden, but would love to be proved wrong. I agree 100% on redshirting Hayes next year Chep. He just needs time to learn the game & system while getting stronger and he'll be productive..

MCI, what have you seen from hayes and bolden that lead you to believe they'll develop? My man, like you I haven't seen jack**** (if you pardon my French). How could I considering III doesn't like large rotations? But then again I didn't see much of Moses before this season and one reason why people were so gung-ho on getting Hayes was because we hadn't seeny anything from Moses either that would lead us to believe he would develop. Now people actually want Moses to see more time on the floor. And this is what irritates me a bit. Not that a player doesn't develop or may not be any good, but that we here keep craving for the new toy, thinking the old toys we hardly touch are obsolete. But unfortunately when the new toy comes in it often doesn't live up to expectations and thus become an old toy itself left in the corner as we order another new one to take its place. The people here last year claiming Hayes was a must get....where are they now? ^ This ^ Well stated MCI..

Thanks, Etomic.
By the way I love the vids of Bentil. Looks like a great prospect. I think he could get away playing some center in the BE too.

When you pick up players in April and May for the following season good chance they were passed over for a reason. I've been banging the drum for the last 3 or 4 years on the subject; we need to be ahead of the recruiting curve. Which the staff seems to be doing. IF we can lock up Bentil to go with IC, then we can turn the focus to a guard and the 2015's.
As for any possible transfers I think the staff knows who is coming back and who isn't. Plus our depth has improved Essentially we went 8 deep this year and hopefully only losing Otto. And we add Smith. IF players want to move on we will be in good shape both from a current roster and a future roster perspective.

Bentil and his H.S. coach have said multiple times, he is and wants to play the 3 or 4. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1448703"While he doesn't have any favorites, Bentil does have an idea of what he is looking for and that includes the chance to play some on the wing." "I'm trying to play the small forward, the three or the four," said Bentil. "I'm trying go to a school that will just put me out there and let me play." scouthoops.scout.com/2/1274512.html“He had a solid year,” St. Andrew’s coach Terrell Myers said. “He really improved his ball handling and passing. He played a lot on the perimeter. He shot about 55-percent from the three-point line" saintjosephs.scout.com/2/1149993.html“In college, he’s not going to be a 5,” Myers stated. “He’s probably going to be a 4/3, inside-outside type of player. We have him bringing the ball up, pulling up off the dribble, and starting the break off the defensive rebound.”

I've never seen Bentil play nor have I watched any of the videos that have been posted, but one recruiting scouting report I've read describes him as "...a strong and physical power forward with a great motor. He plays to exhaustion and competes on both ends of the floor. He is athletic and knows how to use it. Bentil is a powerful above the rim finisher in or out of traffic." If that description is accurate, Bentil sounds exactly like the kind of frontcourt player JT II would have recruited.

He sounds more like a Jeff Green type than an Otto Porter type, in that he can shoot the three/play in the high post, but he's more of a post player. That's fine with me--I'm not going to complain if we have Jeff 2.0 (Bentil) play with Otto 2.0 (Copeland)

Giving up on him is ridiculous (not that either of you have suggested that - just sayin'). OTOH, a redshirt year for him makes a lot of sense.

In JT3's offensive system Ben will get plenty of chances to use/show off his perimeter skills.

–Ben Bentil (2014/Team Next) really doesn’t like talking about his recruiting. The strong and athletic 6-foot-8 forward has quite a few offers in the MM+ range, but doesn’t really seem to care just yet about who. “Whatever is out there, I’m still open for it,” he said. “I just really don’t pay attention, focusing on basketball and my academics.” In terms of his basketball skills, he said he’s focusing on finishing games as a team leader; while he’s playing this weekend with his father’s AAU program, he still will play with his usual We-R-1 squad this summer.

So has Robinson eclipsed Bentil as the primary target for big men. Seems like there hasn't been news on bentil in a while Bentil's a PF Robinson a C. Bentil has said he's not focusing on his recruitment right now. According to our own recruiting gurus we'd take both in a heartbeat
