Understand its early but I really hope we do not miss this guy just like we missed Kevin Durant, I see way too many similarities

Can someone refresh my memory, how did GU "miss" on Durant?

It is unfair to even say we missed out on Durant. If III ad arrived at GU a year or two earlier then there’s a good chance Durant would have picked the Hoyas after getting to know the staff. But Durant’s relationship with the coaching staff at Texas (and to a lesser extent UNC) was already firmly established by the time III got involved.
As for Thon....ehhh. Super talented guy and everything but I’m sure by this time next year the Hoyas will look at the transfer list and find some relatively unknown big guy who wants a change of scenery for college. Of course this player will have far less upside than Thon but no matter; the fans on HT will be overjoyed to get that guy anyhow. That's what we do.

Thon's potential is limitless. He is a potential future #1 overall pick. The guy is a freak. And he might keep growing. Point is I seriously doubt he ends up here. The whole world is going after him. Georgetown would have to beat out every top school and I can't see that happening

The question is: if the NBA/NCAA changes the rule to allow players straight out of high school, will he go straight to the NBA or play college and have to stick around until his 20 years old? I read that current discussion include changing the current rule to allow high school graduates to go straight to the NBA or have to stay at least two years (or is it until they're 20 ys old?). Maybe it's in place before 2016. Anyway, continue to recruit him like he's coming. Obviously, we're in the mix.

The kid is a top 3 prospect. There’s 300+ D! programs and about 90 High Majors.. Odds are always going to be stacked against you
Who cares and what does that matter?? The kid the kid has to go to school somewhere...

I'm surprised we are still recruiting him.

The kid the kid has to go to school somewhere... Exactly. I was only saying I doubt he ends up at georgetown, but by all means the staff should still go all in for him because you never know. For a player like Thon, even though him coming to georgetown is unlikely, the staff still should go all out in trying to get him here. His talent and potential is absurd

Maker's guardian said there is a chance he reclassifies to 2015 depending on his weight. Evan Daniels says he thinks he will reclassify as they have set him up academically to do so.

I hope we swing for the fences with both Rabb and Maker if Maker reclassifies. Maker seems to be more of a long shot than Rabb at this point, but if you land one of them in '15, this program might return to heights not seen in recent memory.
Maker seems to have that Ewing aura described in Requiem for the Big East in that he'll step onto a college campus and change that program instantly.

Yeah I'm getting the sense that Maker will reclassify which is too bad. Probably makes him less likely. Although it would probably take Kentucky out of jumping into the Rabb sweepstakes later.

How many top 5 players have we landed in the last 20 years?

When you say remind one of Ewing, you just got my attention. Man we need a Ewing-type player! Dominant!

Has UConn gotten a lot of top five players in the past 20 years?
