Tuesday's 73-45 loss to Pittsburgh is:
1. The largest margin of defeat in the John Thompson III era.
2. The largest margin of defeat in any Big East game by the Hoyas.
3. The largest margin of defeat since a 104-71 loss to Maryland on Dec. 10, 1974.
4. The third largest margin of defeat in any home game in school history, last reached on Feb. 11, 1950 in a loss to Villanova by the same score.

Even though this was a regular season game, this was about as cringeworthy as Ohio and VCU combined. Probably because it's Pitt.

Yes. Not just another "shake it off and don't read anything into it" kind of performance.

I knew I had never seen anything like it in 30 years as a fan.

They didn't start 0-2 in 02-03...at least not according to the media guide. They defeated WVU in OT 84-82 to start 1-0 that year.

Who says Hoyas aren't record setting? Had a friend there that said the "gift bag" at the game resembled a GU Barf Bag-as he tweeted to me--be thankful I don't have to see this debacle in person.
Will III tell the truth and acknowledge the need to change some things for the best interests of this year's team or will we get "We can shoot, we're just having some odd things happen" BS again?

RDF...what can be change at this point that will make a major difference?
It's only a slump if you can break out of it...

Starks has to put up 20 a game. It doesn't seem fair to him but that's the way it has to be given the roster composition.

I never thought I would see a worse loss at home than that debacle against West Virginia in 2009.
I was wrong.

Rock bottom. Now let's climb our way out of it. Team still has talent. They just need to play FASTER and with more urgency in the half court sets. This lazy ball reversing stuff is unwatchable.

I don't think you meant it this way, but actually, I think when the team struggles, it is because they're playing too fast and with too much urgency.
In the wrong way. Does that make sense?
Calm, cool, collected and confident. The team had none of those last night.
But I'm mostly sad that they forgot how to play defense somehow.

But I'm mostly sad that they forgot how to play defense somehow. We know this team has had offensive struggles, but we do know this team can play very good defense. Thus, even if we cannot get out of the offense doldrums, I am hoping that our defense can compensate and do a better job of keeping us in games. My biggest worry is that if the offense continues to sputter, it is going to frustrate the team on defense, and might hurt our defensive performance, as well. I realize a lot of people are criticizing our guys, but we are better than last night. I am not saying we should have won, but we should never be that bad. I am hoping it's a one-time deal of awfulness and we'll show up to play on Saturday. If not, it will be a long season.

Simply stated...
WE weren't GEORGETOWN.
I am surprised they didn't pan the camera to John Thompson, Jr.
I can only imagine his reaction to being 'out-toughed' to the extent that we were.

A bunch of us were saying it was the worst performance we'd see since 2004. Guess we were wrong.

Aaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only thing this game did for me is that maybe I can start seeing some of the games live (instead of watching the replay); I will be expecting the worst, but be pleased if they play well.

Too late for my blood to see in person - so first thing I did this AM was to hit delete button! I 'll not have to witness this one! Don't like to get negative but .......I am worried now about the season.
