www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jan/10/hoyas-big-east-struggles-disconcerting/The trio of Markel Starks, Otto Porter and Greg Whittington has accounted for 54 of the Hoyas’ 83 shots in conference play, meaning there’s been minuscule production from post players Mikael Hopkins and Nate Lubick. “We have to make a concerted effort to get [Hopkins] the ball where he can be effective,” Thompson said. “And he just has to relax. He’s thinking now.”This quote scares me.. Film of the Pitt has to show Mikael missing 2 point blank layups. If he misses those shots, where else can he be effective?

If every player gives 100% against St. Johns we'll be okay.

Hoyas - Tarheels Elite Eight on MASN right now.
Figured the board could use a pick-me-up.

You can't really understand basketball that well if you don't understand what he meant by that quote. Mikael is over thinking on offense right now and he isn't finishing plays as a result. Those two layups you mentioned are a perfect example. If he stops thinking and just let the game come to him he'll be solid. He has the talent. The game just needs to slow down for him a little more, and that will come with time. That said, I'm not saying he's played well enough nor will he in the near future, but I think that that's his main problem and that's what JT3 was trying to get at.

I'd love to see him get the ball in good enough position to not have to put it on the floor. Why he doesn't is a whole other story. In any case, he's struggled for sure. That said, I still feel like he has a lot of upside especially if he can eventually play his natural position. He's shown some flashes of having the ability to be really good. And, while he hasn't been good so far, I respect the guy for playing out of position and trying to do what isn't really fair to expect of him. That's not to say he doesn't deserve to be called out for certain things. Only that he also deserves credit for having the huge target on him that he does with what he's been asked to do. It's frustrating as hell but also admirable.

It's not that I don't understand his quote, it's that I don't agree with it. The team is struggling like crazy on offense so why would you want to get the ball to the player who has the lowest Offensive rating and FG% of any of your regular players by a wide margin? JT3 should have Mikael concentrate on screening & rebounding on the offensive end of the court. I say why not make a concerted effort to get Nate more shots? He's shooting 59% from the field this season which is by far the best on the team.

Ill be at the game today. I have a pretty good track record here at MSG. Early game scares me, usually has a 25 point half written all over it. With this years edition maybe lower. Lets cross our fingers for a quick start.

gtown will win 65-51 in my opinion.. no way JT3 lets us start 0-3. plus the offense is not as bad as it had played the past couple games and the tennessee game.. must find a way to be more consistent to compete against the real good teams in the big east like cuse, louisville, nd, etc. the defense will be there, i am confident about that, no way to be confident about the offense being there..

I predict no change to the starting lineup but some increased use of Moses.

I predict no change to the starting lineup but some increased use of Moses. Well you predict wrong since Greg's suspended so there will have to be a change in the starting line up. Presumably Jabril.

Any word on why Greg Whittington was suspended for today's game?

What if we don't have him for the entire season?

What if we don't have him for the entire season? This is uncharacteristic of you. Is my sarcasm detector broken again?

We look good with two true guards on the floor.

Looking much much better on offense, JT3 has them spread out and attacking. Good change!

Jabril bring energy and markel has an intensified focus. Still waiting for Otto to take over.
