Should we read much into the fact that caprio was in before hayes and bolden? Might just speak well of caprio rather than poorly of hayes/bolden, but I don't think it's totally insignificant...
great to see a big win!!

Another great night defensively, really good stuff like the old JT2 Hoyas. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the offensive movement and the minutes played by the bench. The forced turnovers were terrific as well. We need to play to our strengths this season, and it is a nice sign that JT3 has already recognized the need to adapt.
My biggest concerns coming out of this game are Hopkins basketball IQ and Whittington's shooting stroke. Both seem to be really low right now.
Hopkins just makes really stupid plays, dumb fouls and takes bad shots over and over. He needs to understand when he has the advantage and when he needs to work the ball through the offense. I think it may be asking too much for that to happen this year, but hopefully it can improve a little more. Glad to see Moses play pretty well tonight, he will get some PT for sure this year.
Whit's shot is missing off the back rim instead of the front rim and that is not good. He is way off. Hopefully it is just a slump and he can work out of it. No doubt he brings a lot more to the table than shooting, but it will be important to keep the defense honest.

I think that game showed again that this particular team is best suited for the Lville/Marquette style of BE play. We just need to be pressing, running, playing up tempo because every team recognizes our jump shooting and half court offense woes. People forget that Lville really hasnt ever had a great shooting team way the Pitino did with Kentucky, and some games they can look awful. But, that can overcome with pressing. I was happy to see III pressing even as late as 4-5 minutes left in the game. We need to keep practicing it.

Love what Moses brought tonight. He did a great job finding someone to box out every single time the ball went up. Used his body to create space in the offense. Made some nice passes and played decent defense. Sure, it's Longwood, but I thought he had a great game. Good sign given how much Hopkins has struggled.

What seemed clear tonight is that Moses has the fundamentals of the system down. To me his most impressive play was dribbling out of a double team to make a pass, he didn't panic or force it at all. We can say "it's Longwood" but Hopkins struggled against them tonight.

Hopkins really needs to stop trying to score. He can't. Not right now. He simply cannot score on his own. He needs to get the ball in the post, get it out, play off others, rebound and score on putbacks and dunks off others penetration. Anything more than that, he's killing us. Every single time he tries to make a move, he either turns the ball over or throws up a shot that has zero chance of going in, which is as good as a turnover.
Right now, he's like the worst player in the gym during YMCA runs that thinks he's the best and keeps shooting. I hate playing with those kinds of guys, and I'm hating anytime he gets the ball because I inevitably know what's going to happen. His game is not there yet, and he's killing us offensively because he keeps trying to do what he's absolutely not capable of.

Two reasons we won by 30 plus tonight and we only won by 6 on Saturday.
Longwood did not have the size that Towson had. Bilal Dixon (formerly of Providence?) and the other 6-8 guys on the Towson team challenged lay ups and close shots all game this weekend. You could argue though that half of their blocks were illegal. The middle was clogged up. Longwood ironically had no length or girth to bother our back door maneuvers.
Longwood's guards were not as savvy as Towson's. The Towson guards still turned over the ball quite a bit, but they were willing to take it to the hole when the opportunity presented itself. Longwood's guards were again ironically short, timid, and lacking spurtability.

I think this is what SF has been saying for a few weeks now (reciting the % of possessions he uses or something to that effect). It is really true. He has become a black hole when he gets the ball. It is killing us (or at least it will starting 1-5-13) and he needs to be so much smarter with the ball.

Have not read any prior posts so this is my take. 1. How can Moses not be in the rotation? 2. Aaron is the quickest guy on the team. 3. We will go nowhere in the Big East unless Greg finds a way to score other than layups and dunks.

great game from starks. this team will not succeed if he is not hitting jumpers consistently. i would have liked to see bowen run with the first team more. i really think his shooting could help. i think he at least deserves a shot.

Biggest development in this game was Moses. I'm not about to crown him the next Sweetney given the level of competition, but he made quite a statement tonight for increased minutes. I hope JT3 rewards him with 15-20 minutes in each of the next two games. It would be wise to get him some more seasoning before the Big East schedule begins.

Whittington appears to be shooting flat, line drives at times from beyond the arc. This is clearly correctable and a little more arch would improve his accuracy. Moses looked raw but you cannot deny the effort and the fact that the more he played the more comfortable he looked. Ditto for Domingo, who missed a layup but seems to be getting a better grasp on running the offense. Still hope that there is a way to get Bowen's athleticism onto the court more. Watched his defense and he seemed to do better than in the past. Still quick to shoot, but that may be the eagerness of finally getting into the game. Overall, this was a great opportunity to give the 8-10 players some meaningful time on the court.
I know that JT III sees them every day in practice and plays those he believes can contribute. However, when the team is struggling in one or two phases, it cannot hurt to try other pieces. All of these guys are recruits for a reason--and it was not because the coach thought they could not play.
