With Rondo's injury, saw this pop up from from a SBNation blog (http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2013/1/27/3922432/will-the-boston-celtics-look-to-nba-d-league-to-replace-rajon-rondo). Not sure it is realistic, but happy CW is in the mix with his play. "The first of these potential fill-ins would have to be Chris Wright. He has been steadily putting forth a strong effort as playmaker all season long for the Energy. A young man with solid court vision, Wright's 7.4 assists per game lead all point guards who have spent the full duration of the season in the D-League thus far. What's more, at 210 points, the guard's stocky build for a floor general helps him contain his opponents defensively. His hounding nature on that side of the floor has given way to an also impressive 1.8 steals per game average as well."

I hope they (or someone else) give him a shot rather than trotting out another veteran re-tread who has already proven several times over they are washed up and/or weren't very good to begin with. Jeremy Pargo, I'm looking at you right now.
Chris is 23 with some real upside potential. And he's tough as nails, which would fit in well with the Celtics.

Former Celtic Delonte West is likely a candidate, also. I'd rather have Chris.

Chris Wright was never skinny. Maybe he wasn't jacked, but he always carried at least 200 pounds on his frame I'd say, which is a decent amount for a 6 foot point guard who relied on quickness.

The NBA really needs to establish a baseball-like option system/IR system if they want this D League thing to work. The necessity to cut a guy reduces flexibility and keeps guys from getting shots.

Former Celtic Delonte West is likely a candidate, also. I'd rather have Chris. The Globe was speculating that Keyon Dooling could be brought out of retirement - he is currently working for the Celtics' front office, but admits he is out of shape. Chris Wright is a bit more exciting to this season ticket holder than a 32 year old retread who was never very good in the first place.

I agree SF, but unfortunately even that can't stop teams like Dallas for deciding to keep a 37 year old Mike James on the roster for the season. Dallas desperately needs decent point guard play, and they could certainly use some youth, but they decided to go with James and he has rewarded them with a PER of under 3 so far. Just pathetic. If you're that stupid, just keep the roster spot open.

A coach has no interest in teaching a bit player anything so he's going to lean towards the Keyon Doolings of the world if he has a choice.

Yeah, I agree that's the thinking behind these moves but it's incredibly short sighted and all the more so for teams that aren't contending for a championship this year or anytime in the next couple years. Rather than using the end of their benches to try out younger guys who could turn into contributors, they waste slots of mediocrities (or worse). Dallas may be comfortable with James but you're giving a slot AND 8 minutes a game to a player who is several deviations below replacement level and has no chance of getting better.
For an example of a smarter team, look at the Rockets who don't have anyone over 30 on their entire active roster and instead give deep bench spots and some minutes to a guy like Patrick Beverly, a 24 year old rookie point guard who has been decent in the time he's gotten. Maybe Beverly turns into an asset and maybe he doesn't, but smart teams take the opportunity to try. Signing Mike James or Keyon Dooling is lazy and it's not the way that successful franchises think, IMO.
If you want a "veteran influence" get a guy like Brian Roberts from overseas. He's an older player who beat out Chris for the last spot on the Hornets after being a great player in Europe. He knows the game and is a solid pro, and has been one of the ten best rookies in the league.
Basically, better to take a shot on a guy who probably won't be good but MIGHT be rather than a guy who has proven over and over he is bad.

Please keep in mind that "stocky" is not supposed to be a pejorative term, by its defninition.
It has become one because, in America, we use it as a euphemism for people who are overweight. But that's not what the word actually means.
Here's a quick and easy guide:
Allen Iverson = skinny. Chris Wright = stocky. Khalid el-Amin = fat and tubby.
