Will start this week. Several present and past Georgetown runners are eligible, whether on a qualified/declared or provisional basis. In the women's 5000m Emily Infeld and Liz Maloy have the qualifying stardard and Liz has declared, but on the USATF website, Emily has not declared, but I assume she will. Emily is also qualified in the 1500m. In the 5000m men's race Andrew Bumbalough has qualified and declared. Maggie Infeld has qualified for the 1500m and declared and is provisional in the 800m, as is Chelsea Cox. Renee Tomlin is qualified in the 1500m and has declared, as is London Finley in the 400H. And just yesterday Amanda Kimbers ran an out-of-the-blue 100m qualifier (11.25). Her mark is still in limbo, but if it is accepted, Amanda should be at the trials. Liam Boylan-Pett has a provisional and pending mark in the 800m.

Updates on the entries. Treniere Clement Moser has qualified and declared in the 1500m. Liam is still on the provisional list for the 800m (right now #22, they will probably take the top 32), but also has a qualifier for the 1500m, but has not declared. Maggie Infeld has gone from qualified and declared to updated and pending in the 1500m. Not sure what is happening there. Emily Infeld, although qualified in both the 1500m and 5000m, has scratched in the 1500m and will run the 5000m. Amanda with her 11.25 is still in limbo; I rather think that that mark is being examined as there were a couple of very fast times in the sprints in that NJ meet. Also, Amanda has a time in the 200m of 23.28, that is fast enough to be on the provisional list, but was marked as not qualified. Again, I don't know what that story is. Monica Hargrove has the 2nd fastest provisional time in the 400m, so she should make the meet.

For some perspective on how Georgetown 1500m runners have fared in the past, the list of the top 10 American runners includes two Georgetown graduates:
American All Time Performance List Name Venue Date Mark Benard Lagat Rieti 08/28/2005 3:29.30 Sydney Maree Koln 08/25/1985 3:29.77 Alan Webb Paris Saint-Denis 07/06/2007 3:30.54 Jim Spivey Koblenz 08/28/1988 3:31.01 Steve Holman Bruxelles 08/22/1997 3:31.52 Steve Scott Nice 07/16/1985 3:31.76 David Krummenacker Stockholm 07/16/2002 3:31.93 Lopez Lomong Monaco 07/28/2009 3:32.94 Jim Ryun Los Angeles, CA 07/08/1967 3:33.1 Christopher Lukezic Roma 07/14/2006 3:33.28

Update: Liam is declared in the 1500m, but so in Emily. Emily went from scratch to declared. She is also declared in the 5000m. Not sure if this means that she will try both.
Checked the schedule. I thought maybe if she got the 5000m finish, she could jump in the 1500m. That is not really possible as the qualifying rounds for the 1500m are on the same day before the 5000m finals. So, I would believe that the declared changes back to scratch some time, unless there is some second thoughts about running the 1500m instead.

We have some successes in the OT in the past. In 1992 we got two of the three runners in the men's 5000 with John Trautmann, who won the trials, and John Gregorek, who had already made the Olympic team in the 3000mSC in previous years. In 2000 Rich Kenah and Bryan Woodward both made the team in the 800m.

Thanks. So, Chris moves out of the top 10 and unfortunately also does Jim Ryun (world record at the time). Not too long ago John Gregorek was among the top 10 either the 1500 or mile, plus had a top 10 US times in the 5000m and 3000mSC. Time marches on.

Amanda Kimbers was not accepted in the 100m, although her time on paper met the qualifying standard. Must be something wrong with the timing of that race in NJ.
Monica Hargrove was moved from provisional to accepted and she has declared. Maggie Infeld was also moved from provisional to accepted and she has declared. Her 1500m entry in still being updated and her entry is pending (the time meets the qualifying standard).
Liam Boylan-Pett was accepted in the 800m and he has declared. He has also qualifed and declared in the 1500m. Emily Infeld remains qualifed and declared in both the 1500m and 5000m.

Andrew Bumbalough also has a qualifier in the 1500m, but he has not declared.

I have forgotten about Michael Banks, who has provisional marks in both the 1500m and 5000m. He probably will not make the trials, which would be unfortunate, because Alan Webb has been accepted for the 5000m with a 13:49.7 mark, while Michael has a 13:38.67 time.

Rachel Schneider had a provisional mark in the 1500m, but has since scratched. London Finley is listed as provisional, but should make the trials based on the numbers ahead of her. They are taking the top 32 from each event; London is 21st.

So far today we have two in and one out. Liam Boylan-Pett, who had established PRs in his last five races, came up short as he finished 6th in his heat (top 3, plus next four on times) in 1:48.46. Coming through to the next round were Monica Hargrove in the 400m with a time qualifier of 52.7; she finished overall 12th of the 16 qualifiers. With the best performance of the day was Maggie Infeld in the 800m (maybe not her best event) with an auto qualifier of 2:03.53 in that tough first heat. Congratulations for Maggie and Monica on going through to the next round.

Surprise, Amanda Kimbers did get to run the 100m at the OT. Unfortunately, she was 8th in her heat in 11.59 (31st out of 35 entries). This was good experience for Amanda.

An interesting tidbit about Amanda and her struggles to get into the meet. I had thought that it was something to do with the times at the NJ meet, where she set the school record of 11.25. I had mentioned that this came out of the blue, as her previous school record was 11.61. One of the men sprinters in the same meet had a sub 10 s time, which was also an outlier. The time that Amanda ran at the trials was 11.59, which is better than her previous school record, but not near her 11.25.
Kimbers spent much of her Friday unsure as to whether or not her flight on Wednesday out to Eugene was worth it. Despite running an Olympic Trials A standard and setting a new school record with a time of 11.25 last weekend, Kimbers' time - as well as all other marks from the New Jersey International Meet - was called into question and Kimbers spent the afternoon in arbitration pleading her case.
Upon winning her case and gaining entrance into the trials, Kimbers was placed in the fourth of five heats with the top three plus the next six fastest times advancing. Kimbers ran 11.59, the second-fastest time of her career behind last week's PR, Her time placed eighth in her heat, not enough to advance to the semifinals. Murray State's Alexis Love, competing in heat three, ran 11.49 and was the final mark to make the semifinal pool.

Unfortunately, our two athletes that advanced yesterday did not make the finals of their respective events. Monica Hargrove was 7th in her semi-final heat of the 400m in 53.71. Maggie Infeld almost made the final as she was the first women out on time qualifiers. She ran 6th in her semi-final race with the top three automatically moving on and the top two times from both heats also movng on. Maggie had the 3rd fastest time at 2:03.3. So Maggie ran consistently during her two races and will move on to contest the 1500m later on.

Today Emily Infeld and two alums take the track to run the qualifying heat of the 5000m. Liz Maloy will be in the first heat of the women's 5000m, while Emily will be in the 2nd heat. The first six across the line and the next four fastest runners will make the final. Andrew Bumbalough (Bumbi) will be running the men's 5000m. This event will be the one where the Hoyas will have their best chance for making the Olympic team (top 3). Of the three runners today Liz and Bumbi have the Olympic A standard, while Emily if she wants to make the team will have to finish in the top three in the finals and run fast enough to make the A standard (15:20).
