Hey, I'm impressed. The Tigers did take Christian Brothers to overtime. Nothing like free basketball against a D-2 team. That's not the kind of thing you can do without multiple NBA lottery picks. Clearly Memphis will be having a few guys jump early to NBA this year.

Bingo!! This is exactly why I didn't like posters thumbing their noses at TigerJ/Memphis or being snarky towards him/Memphis no matter how annoying he became.. It's hard to tell people they stink when you're standing in the same cesspool.. This quote here from the article is eye-opening imo: "Multiple coaches who have recruited Labissiere told CBSSports.com Hamilton either directly indicated or strongly suggested pursuing Labissiere would mostly be a waste of time if they couldn't offer assistance in helping fund his foundation. One coach from a prominent staff said: "We couldn't even get in the door." Another added: "We recognized what it was about early on and decided not to get involved."My hope is that Hamilton allowed G'town to stay in it to help make the recruitment look above board.. As it stands now all the schools involved with him look bad.. Memphis hires handlers as coaches. Georgetown does not. I'm fine with pursuing a kid with sketchy people around him as long as the staff lets the kid know that he's being offered a scholarship and an education and his handlers are not going to attend classes or play ball so they'll, consequently, be getting nothing. I'm not, I'd rather the staff look elsewhere..

I'm really confused on why the staff spent time, effort, and money to recruit this kid when the situation with his handler has been quite obvious for some time. I remember reading that JTIII was at all his games in July; and we also spent the money to bring him in for an official visit. From the outside looking in, it just doesn't make any sense.

I still trust the staff. Either the greed of the guardian was not as clear, or the staff was (and maybe still is) confident that they can shut him out and move ahead with Skal by himself. I don't believe we would for even a moment contemplate playing ball with the guardian

Guess he "shocked the world" Glad this circus is over. It amazes me how Calipari is allowed to operate.

After clicking on matersammich's link, I am confused. What is the purpose in the NCAA vacating a defeat in tournament play? Does that mean that the penalized team gets a win??

I think it's just an awkward way of saying, "nothing you did in that tournament counts". All the wins and losses are erased as if they never happened. edit to add - also keep in mind that a vacated loss might have been participation in a Final Four, as is the case with Calipari. Banners are important even if the game was a loss.

Which means even less than nothing when the coach can just move on to the next job and the commentators of his games speak glowingly about him and fail to ever mention that his wins and losses were vacated for very clear rule violations.

They do need to fix that. Schools and kids get punished but some coaches like Calipari just roll on like nothing happened. It doesn't seem to matter that he's left wreckage wherever he's gone.

Could care less about Skal. Tigerj has to leave now. That's a win in my book.

It's why UNC will get next to nothing for their transgressions. Chirp them all you want but they are the standard.

And if that is what it takes to land these players and "win", they can keep it. I love our basketball team as much as anyone, but Georgetown has always been, and will always be, a hell of a lot more than a basketball factory.

Not directly related, but FWIW Memphis just lost exhibition in OT to DIV 2 Christian Brothers University. Are team will be ok. We have 10 newcomer. I will judge them based on progress this year. If Josh can make this team a NCAA tourney or barely missing it this year then he did a good job for a down year for us. We are set up fine for the next couple of years. Transition year.
