@terpsrecruiting #Georgetown '15 PF commit Marcus Derrickson (@marc_So_Fresh) averaged 14.8 PPG (52% FG) and 6.2 RPG for @ksteamtakeover at #EYBL Minneapolis
That’s including a game where he played only 8min and had 2 and 4 because it was blowout…
If you exclude that game his numbers look more like 18 and 6.5 boards…

From Espn: Best back-to-the-basket and face-up touch: Marcus Derrickson This Georgetown commit has an excellent stroke with his face-up game. He knocks down midrange jumpers from all around the floor and creates matchup problems with his ability to draw post players away from the lane. How do you go from this ESPN writeup to dropping out of the ESPN Top 100?

Not surprising considering he didn’t really have a great summer until the last event…I’ve always though his game was most comparable to Draymond Green and his rsci was around 120 fwiw Lastly a wise man once told me the only person who cares about those rankings are the “rat’s asses”..

Interesting list, think Marcus is about right but not sure Justin Robinson PG St James is a better prospect than Mickey Mitchell or Josh Sharma

You can see the work that he has done on his body. Slimmed down a good bit

I just love the versatility of his offensive game. You don't see a lot of kids his size who can score efficiently at all three levels. I've been thinking, and I can't remember having a player with his body and offensive skillset ever at Gtown.

If I am correct in asuming that the most recent ranking updates are based on play in the EYBL then IMO his drop is unwarrented. In the 4 streams of Takeover games I saw his coach used him in ways that limited his stats. He was the designated inbounds passer after makes by the other team. He was the safety/outlet man when the other team pressed. Once he passed back to Jenifer/Dorsey they were off to the races driving relentlessly into the teeth of whatever big man was guarding the hoop and flinging wild shots time after time. Most of the time Marcus was barely over half.
His good touches came when Crawford were in the game. So, while the ranking gurus are looking at his stat drop off, he is doing the small things for his team...the glue guy. I liked what I was seeing out of him in those games.
As for Dorsey, he should go to Villanova, please not Georgetown. Not a Jenifer fan either.

ESPN article identifying 5 recruits just on the outside for the top 100 for 2015:
Marcus Derrickson: Derrickson, a Georgetown commit, owns a very impressive skill level with power forward size and the ability to handle the ball with comfort and make shots facing the basket. Derrickson will fit very well into the Georgetown offense, as it's paramount to have skill and versatility for the Hoyas. He has been very efficient scoring this spring, connecting on 48 percent of his field goals, 41 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line, per D1Circuit.com. The 6-foot-8 Derrickson must take better care of the ball, as he has a tendency to turn it over more than he hands out assists. He has demonstrated the positional size and tools to play his way into the rankings

Did Derrickson just not get invited to the Top 100 camp? What about Govan? Seems strange...

Marcus Derrickson Paul VI High School/Team Takeover
Derrickson, a Georgetown commit, plays for both one of the best high school and AAU programs in the nation. Derrickson stands 6’8 273lbs with a 7’1 wingspan. With his versatility and skill he will fit right into Georgetown’s system. He has the ability to overpower defenders on the block but also has an array of post moves and is extremely crafty around the rim. He is just as likely to step all the way out to the three-point line and knock down a jumper with his soft touch or find a teammate for an easy basket. As mentioned earlier he plays for two great programs and has a very good chance of winning both the Nike Peach Jam this summer and repeating the high school basketball Triple Crown of winning the WCAC, VISAA and Alhambra Championships during the 2014-2015 high school season.

Derrickson plays his high school ball at Paul VI in Fairfax, Virginia. He runs with Team Takeover during the summer. Derrickson showed on day two why Georgetown fans should be excited. He used his large frame to carve out space around the rim, but also showed his soft touch and array of finishes. Derrickson will be looking to bring home a title at the Nike Peach Jam in Augusta, South Carolina next week. www.hardwoodinsiders.com/2014/07/lebron-james-skills-academy-day-2-recap/
