Actually, there is a Head coach office up on the basketball floor. I assume the "Coach Thompson" room is for JT2. Is there going to be a remodel of McDonough also? Yes, it's included in the master plan for 2030.

Even Better Also, because there are no locker rooms for football, I am assuming those will still be in McDonough? Is there going to be a remodel of McDonough also? The football lockers are in the MSF. If it ever gets built. Or so was the plan.

2 floors of courts!?! look at all that space on the top floor for the athletes too! 3 weight rooms, the big one looks huge, probably big enough for the entire football team! great space for the women's team as well. finally, what is a "recruit room" on the top floor? Just a room where we do the pitches? A place for kids to stay on officials? Either way, thanks tables! These are exciting!! also, what's a "Closing Room"? love the war rooms too, lol

Is there any plans to do what they did with the MSF, where you can buy small items (lockers, name a bathroom, whatever) for smaller dollar values ($1,000)?

Might not be a great way to induce giving to remind everyone what the MSF donors were given in exchange for their generous gifts (squat) vs. what was promised (lockers, benches, etc).... I'm no expert on university philanthropy but it strikes me as bad for business to start fundraising largely from a pool of alums, take their money in exchange for naming rights, and then totally quit on that project when it is about 15% done. Something just really off-putting and beyond JV about that.....only to bounce back and start asking a lot of the same people for more money.

Can someone please explain how Reed can say zoning was the final regulatory hurdle but we'll still be working with OGB and USCFA on final designs? Is that just symantics? Can't they hold this up indefinitely as well?

Can't they hold this up indefinitely as well? They probably CAN hold it up, but I think that once the zoning and fine arts commission say "yes" your essentially there. This sentence concerned me too, so I am hoping it just means "oh make this window have 8 panes instead of 6" or other cosmetic issues.

JT3 and Lee Reed are already working overtime on getting fundraising going for the IAC. They made a trip over the past few days to some places in California to emphasize the need for facilities.
I have to commend both of them. They both spoke well about the problems we face (still playing in McDonough that was built in 1951), peppered in funny stories about our current facilities, and had the necessary sense of urgency.
I've always been a big JT3 fan, but it was amazing meeting him in person. He casually came up to everyone, introducing himself with a simple "Hi, I'm John Thompson" and then was actually more direct in answering questions that he usually is.
He did drop some insights on the team, but if there's one thing I want to convey, it's that everyone should support the IAC to keep Georgetown competitive and on an even playing field. Other quick hits:
- He said this was the first year he actually saw more than one recruit not pick us because of facilities - He expects big jumps from Mikael and Jabril next year - Tyler still isn't cleared to play and Moses, while medically cleared, is progressing slower than they would have hoped. Neither is a guarantee to make an impact next year, which is why we brought in two bigs this year. - Duke series is over. No guarantees, but UCLA and Kansas could be new non-conference opponents. - DSR is the most college-ready of the recruits. Bolden is a ways away. BJ is raw, but JT3 expects him to develop fairly quickly. - We need $60 million to build the IAC, but groundbreaking will start as soon as we have $30 in commitments. The hope is that we break ground in 2013 and have it built in 18-24 months.
Let's go Hoyas and get the IAC built!

Phatty, was the impression that Moses' knee was not progressing, or that his game was not progressing? (assuming you can answer)
Thanks for the update. I will take a significantly improved Mikael and Jabril and a Kansas home and home.

It was that his knee is not progressing very quickly, even though he's been medically cleared. I assume that is also leading to his game not progressing as quickly too.

Moses still has time. We have alot of experience with ACL tears with our kids and realistically the burst and lateral quickness that are necessary for sports like basketball may take as long as 18 months post-surgery to recover completely. Sometimes, the rate of improvement is slow and then there is rapid improvement. Our daughter has had two and the recovery rate was different for each.
