Yes. You just need to earmark your donation for the IAC when you donate. You can do that through the contacts on the last page Thanks. AD Reed should be pounding down doors to get a fundraising function up on GUHoyas. It probably would "step on toes" given other priorities, but if this thing is the top priority of the capital campaign for new buildings, they should be willing to have more direct fundraising exposure. Something like that would also cause us to invest directly in the program. Pay $50, and you get your name on a wall kinds of things. $50K to get your name on a locker. $100K for a row of seats. Bundle some donation packages with HHC memberships and tickets. Lifetime ticket packages and the like. Just brainstorming, but that is an easy way to get money (or easier than the e-mail folks directly in the rabbit hole that is McDonough thing). On Edit: And please give us some candy by releasing the designs, if that is now possible with the board approval. They seemed open to ideas like that. Probably worth an email (even if it is shouting into the wind). Don't assume that they've thought of it and can't/won't do it. It's still Georgetown--they're always going to be perched right b/w getting steak knifes and getting fired. Also, I asked Steve Alleva about the designs--he said that they would be up relatively soon on the web (he said something along the lines of "we're going to arm you w/ all the info you need to convince people to donate"), but that they didn't want to release preliminary designs / drawings that might still have some big changes. So hopefully relatively soon.

Somebody please explain 1951 to me. It's when McDonough (the current Athletic Facility) was built. It was meant for approximately 9 varsity sports and currently houses 29 sports and 750 athletes. It is nowhere near being up to the task.

Some additional perspective on the "nine sports" represented above.
When McD opened in Dec. 1951, Rev. Guthrie had already gutted the football program. Many of the nine sports cited had little or no gym space required:
Baseball: 24 men, one part-time coach Basketball: 15 men, one part-time coach Boxing: 4 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus) Golf: 12 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus) Rifle: 10 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus) Sailing: 10 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus) Swimming: 16 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus) Tennis: 7 men, one part-time coach Track: 11 men, one part-time coach (competed off campus)
That's 110 men (many of whom competed in two or more sports), a full time staff of four, and only one team with a regular need for the gym floor itself. Fast forward to 2012--you have football, lacrosse, soccer, rowing, plus 14 women's sports, 130 full time staff, and a fair amount of equipment and infrastructure that was never designed for 29 teams, much less nine.

you guys think III is using this as a recruiting tool right now? Pitching the ATF to recruits? For 2012s probably not, for 13s, maybe, but definitely for 2014s and beyond as those are who would be using it most. It will be really interesting to see the effect it has on recruiting, especially if program success remains about the same (meaning no FF or something like that)

Why would you want to lock this thread? What better place to keep abreast of news regarding the progress of the new facility?
I hope you're not advocating that it be tracked in that "1951..." thread which many people have no idea of what it is refering to.

The new football stadium we still don't have was mentioned on my football recruiting trip. That was 1995.

We would never fill it!! Incredible the level of high school stadiums they build here in TX - granted sometimes 3 or 4 high schools share the stadium, but still mind blowing. Believe the cost on that one was somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 million - nice neighborhood. Our tax dollars at work.

I have to say that seems a tad excessive for high school.

I have to say that seems a tad excessive for high school. Not when they outdraw GU football by a factor of 5-10.

I have to say that seems a tad excessive for high school. "Excessive" is how I would describe Texas.

I believe LIC was suggesting the thread be retitled not that it stop. Interpretation of LIC can be difficult, but I reached the same conclusion.
