This is a non-story. Some players smoked dope over the past 10 years and didn't get punished? Nobody cares, especially the high school players who likely smoke dope themselves. You think Georgetown players don't drink underage, etc.? That's not the issue and you know it. The problem is that Syracuse caught them doing it, and failed to following its own set of rules. Exactly. I'm sure kids in other sports were made to follow the rules, but not Boeheim's. If you look at his full track record, you can see that whether it is drugs, grades, violent behavior or sexual abuse, he simply looks the other way. Years ago my dislike for Boeheim was because he was a sniveling, whiny Orangeman. But now? I think it's fairly clear he has no real integrity at all. Setting up a system for plausible deniability is what politicians and mob bases do; not people with character.

As a fan, I'd feel a helluva lot worse about reading a story like this written about the Hoyas than I did after losing to Marquette on Saturday.

We will probably never win the NCAA tournament and we may not even make the final 4. I just want us to recruit student athletes that will make us all proud. JT3 appears to be doing that. I am proud of our program. We can compete with anyone. I wouldn't trade places with Syracuse in spite of their record.

Shocked that they actually mentioned the Andre Hawkins scandal which was a coverup from the get go. .

Ok I'm not going to argue with people who want to believe our players have never broken team rules, etc. Cuse had to report this because they are already being investigated and when that happens everything else comes out.

I'm sure players have broken team rules. That's not at issue. I would expect our players are disciplined according to the rules -- that our program does not systematically ignore the rules.

How many programs sit guys out that break team rules? It happens all the time . . . yet at Syracuse unless the police or academics get involved no valuable Cuse player will ever get suspended by Boeheim. I am growing tired of this story, the guy has no credibility. If he does not believe in discipline then do not have rules. If every other athlete at SU has to follow these rules why aren't Jimmy's guys? It is a total joke.

Boeheim has been the ultimate "hands off" look the other way coach for years. Violations, drugs, misogyny, chummy bg giving boosters have all gone unchecked on his (lack of) watch.
How the hell else would you explain the parade of big time athletes (not students) who have found their way to one of the most miserable winter time cities in the United States? It has always been a lawless place under Boeheim and always will be.

Will there be anything left of this program when it reaches the ACC? It'll be BC on downers.

Starks was disciplined for not playing hard until the end of the game. Somehow, I believe that if someone from Georgetown broke rules as alleged at Syracuse, discipline would swiftly follow.

Vacate their championship. We can dream, can't we? That's exactly what a Cuse guy in my office said today. "What, they're gonna take away our championship?" To paraphase a pro-herb character in Dazed and Confused: it would be cooler if they did.

Here's a question--if Cuse had its title vacated (making them the first basketball program to lose a national title, I believe), where would it rank in terms of all time great moments for Georgetown fans? Behind the Final Fours, I assume, and probably all of the Big East titles, but top 15? top 20? top 25?
