Gardner will be back. But he will be limited as he will be nursing a flu. Nice. I see what you did right there. ;D

This is a playing with house money game to me. Even with a loss, Hoyas finish 12-6 in conference, a record that seemed inconceivable to most. Also, even with a loss, the Hoyas will enter the BET as a projected 3 seed and likely get the double bye as a 4 seed. All of these things are far past reasonable pre-season expectations.
A win and we begin knocking on the door for a 2 seed. I also think we matchup well with Marquette. They hurt teams because of their interchangeable parts. DJO, Vander Blue, Cadougan, and Todd Mayo can all play multiplt guard positions. And Jae Crowder is as versatile a big man as there is in country. However, with Clark, Hollis, Greg, and Otto on court we can switch everything without losing much defensivley and Sims has the foot speed to roam with Crowder. This is a matchup where I think Lubick becomes less of a factor because they don't have a true banger with Gardner out. If Gardner plays then Lubick will become a bigger part of the game plan.
If we get to 13-5 in conference and #3 in conference overall at worst it will be a travesty if we dont get COY.

Was channeling some inner lic there, but mostly it was the fact I was typing on my iphone, and had been up for over 24 hours as I worked the night shift right after the Georgetown game last night.

At this point, the freshman aren't freshman any more. We have a fairly experienced team who will be able to play in a hostile environment. I think we beat Marquette and to the finals of the BET with a hopefully a win there.

we need to get off to a good start and stop playing from behind on the road. Match their intensity from the jump ball. Limit live ball turnovers and play off of Henry. Henry has to be our best player for us to win this game. Make the game half court and rebound. Thankfully we rebound this year. That is the best thing about this season.

The importance of this game and the BE tournament cannot be understated. The exceeding expectations analysis is stale. The team is no longer being judged by preseason prognostications, but by its performance over the past four months. The freshmen are no longer inexperienced and it is reasonable for expectations to increase significantly.
The Seton Hall game shows what can happen when the defense is not stopping the other team. The Nova game shows that a strong defensive game alone can allow the Hoyas to hang with most teams and the Notre Dame game shows what could be possible when the defense is playing well and the offense becomes multi-dimensional--with threats on the inside and outside. Spend the next week working on maintaining the offensive diversity. As wild as it might have seemed a few months ago, this Hoya team is capable of going a very long way in the tournament. That is why the games Saturday and next week against quality opponents provide a very good opportunity to fine tune the team.

Maybe if we campaigned to have the Princeton/Princetown/Georgetown offense called something stupid like, oh, the Burn, JT3 would get some votes.

Start Otto again, right? I liked how Starks looked to make passes instead of shooting from long range, but we are a better 5 with Otto and not Starks. Jason and the rest of them just better be ready for the press.
And yes, Boeheim does deserve COY. He recruited, gameplanned and adjusted his way to one loss in conference (missing his starting center). To the victor go the spoils, not to the distant 2nd, 3rd, 4th place finishers. I'd just make the prize an evening out with Mrs. Fine.

If we win at Marquette on Saturday and somehow take out Cuse in the BE tourney, it will be awfully hard to vote against JTIII. But not sure when votes are cast. Pre or post conference tournament?
Somehow I don't think JTIII gives a rat's behind about this issue, though.
