Mamadou Ndiaye, 7-4, 2013, C, Brethern Christian (CA)/Double Pump Elite – Based on size alone, it’s no surprise the amount attention that Ndiaye is generating. Where he ultimately fits in the 2013 class, though, is an enormous (no pun intended) question. Granted, it’s difficult to evaluate Ndiaye in an up and down environment that grassroots basketball often takes shape in. At times, many offensive possessions were completed by his team when he had yet to cross half court. One site has Ndiaye ranked among the top-10 players in the country, making Ndiaye the ultimate potential vs. production argument. As it stands now, it’s reasonable to image only a handful of college programs that would fit Ndiaye’s skill set. But then again, it’s easy to find a roster spot for a player that can protect the rim and dunk on the offensive end, both without needing any lift off the court. hoopniks.com/2012-vegas-recap-friday

georgetown.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1393199&PT=4&PR=2Well, according to Rivals.com's Eric Bossi, N'Diaye has continued to impress this summer, dominating the recent Fab 48 Tournament in Las Vegas. For a video interview, along with similar coverage of N'Diaye from the same tourney, click here. During the session, Bossi asks N'Diaye about recruiting, his skill set and what brought him to the U.S. three years ago. In the interview, N'Diaye is coy about who is recruiting him, but as reported earlier Georgetown is definitely on the scene. …. smdh that’s just wrong thehoopdoctors.com/online2/2012/07/75-mamadou-ndiaye-overcomes-cancer-to-dominate-hs-competition/Just how big is Ndiaye? If his still growing 7’5 frame isn’t impressive enough, he has been measured as having an 8’1 inch wingspan and sports a size 19 1/2 size shoe. to put that into perspective, #1 overall Draft pick Anthony Davis, a prolific collegiate shot-blocker, was thought to have an impressive 7’4 wingspan. Word is he once drew stares for choosing to work out at a 24 Hr Fitness in Cali, that is until a certain NBA superstar that stands nearly a foot shorter than Ndiaye chose to befriend the larger than life big man, partly because he was wearing the NBA star’s shoes. That player was none other than Kobe Bryant. thehoopdoctors.com/online2/2012/07/75-mamadou-ndiaye-overcomes-cancer-to-dominate-hs-competition/

As I've said before, just show this guy a before and after - a clip of Roy trying to run the floor in high school and then a copy of his $58 million contract. That should do the trick.

What an amazing piece he'd be. 6'2, 6'7, 6'9, 6'9, and 7'5 his fr year? 6'3, 6'5, 6'9, 6'11, and 7'5 his soph year?That'd be kinda cool.

Your assuming he is going to start if he were to commit. I doubt that, he is a big time project, not a starter from day 1. Some reports say he can barely get down to the other end of the floor. Make no mistake, if he comes he isn't going to start immediately, he will have to work very hard, and get a lot better. He is a big time project, but I think it is a project worth taking

No, he wouldn't start as a freshman ....Hayes will have the nod. That said, while I never saw footage of Roy in high school, I certainly know what he looked like as a freshman and he seemed like even more of a project. Roy makes Mamadou look like Usain Bolt by comparison. Kid alreasy has better footwork than Roy and also seems to have good hands.

Yeah big time project. Probably be his junior year before he is getting big minutes. But the pay off could be huge. Just high risk/high reward.

He's not THAT big of a project (to have to wait till junior year to see minutes). I dont see it has a huge risk because what are you risking? one out of 13 schollies (team only goes a max of 10 deep anyway) to get the biggest player in the ncaa paired up with some pretty decent big men coaches. Its not like were risking a draft pick. Kid is pretty coordinated for someone that size and could potentially be very solid defensively. Conditioning and learning to get up and down the court will be his biggest hurdles. Already seems to have good enough touch and a good feel for the basket.

Keep in mind that 7'5" makes 7'0" look small.

I wouldn't necessarily call it high risk, but he is a big project. His offensive game is basically dunk only right now, and he needs to get much better conditioned and get down the court as you referenced. As I said, I am perfectly fine picking him up because you cant teach size, and if Roy showed us anything, you can go from project to star with the correct work ethic and attitude. I think the question is, with reggie cameron already committed and no scholarships currently on the table, the 13 class will probably have one more player. So the question is, what is the better option. Taking a guy like Jonothan Williams III who will have an immediate impact, or take a guy like Ndiaye who might not have an immediate impact, but COULD have a huge impact down the road. And then factor in kennedy meeks, who would also play an immediate impact. I think that is why it is considered high risk. As it stands now, even with the reggie cameron commit, it seems as if the hyas are still a big player, if not still the leader for JWIII. So take a chance on ndiaye or get an immediate impact guy is the question

When you're that tall, you can be a project and still provide meaningful minutes early on.
This is the type of risk that Georgetown should absolutely be taking IMO. To build a championship caliber roster, we're very likely going to need one or two guys like this with super high potential that work out. And if our competitive advantage is that we develop big men, then isn't this exactly the type of player that we should be taking? I was reading some comments about him and there were at least a few along the lines of "send him to Georgetown and he'll get to the league" or "kind of awkward but could be the next Roy Hibbert".
He is 7 inches (!) taller than the next tallest player in the 2013 class (Rivals 150).

We will see what happens with him. I agree that he is a project worth taking. Also I wonder when his timetable to commit is.
