I learned nothing new from that Celtics/Knicks game except that neither team has great defense.
The heat look good but the mavs look equally as bad. Don't think they'll be repeating.
I'm not going to lie, as a lifelong lakers fan and having grown up in North LA, I'm honestly excited about the Clippers right now.
I don't think the lakers are going to have a great year...probably bottom 3 in the west playoffs.
On the others in the west, i think the pacers will make some playoff noise this year.
In the east I'm looking at the heat and bulls
Excited for more basketball!!!
Merry Christmas all!!

Only way for the Pacers to make more noise is for Roy to be a man for them in the paint. Those point-blank misses have to stop as does his up and down confidence swings. If he doesn't take a step forward this year I'm afraid he'll be locked into the a level somehwere just above Brendan Haywood and Tyson Chandler mediocrity (let's face it....Chandler has been an average center at best other than for two months last season and his short stint with Chris Paul).
Who is this rookie the Heat picked up? The guy can play.

Great hoops IQ, can score, isn't afraid to take tough shots, gets others involved, defends, boards, you name it. Pat Riley did a great job getting that guy.

In all seriousness, the NBA is just not that exciting or important until after March Madness. I was sort of hoping they would axe the season and hopefully rein in these absurd ticket prices, salaries etc ...
sigh ...

Ricky Rubio is insanely fun to watch. He's got the fancy passes (he's now completed a pass through Russell Westbrook and Dirk Nowitski's legs, both leading to Wolves points) and his passes always seem to be on target. Hasn't been shooting all that poorly either (which, I think, is b/c he's being very judicious in his shot selection). His addition (along w/ Rick Adelman) is getting me excited about the Wolves again.

Paul Westphal fired after 2-5 start. Though it sucks to get fired, he's probably relieved that he no longer has to deal with two knuckleheads, Evans and Cousins. It likely came down to them or him, and he lost.

Hate to say, but I think the new Wizards' uniforms are atrocious. I understand and like the return to red, but the stripes make it look like some weird retro thing that I don't think I'll ever really get used to.
Also, watching the highlights of the Wiz-Knicks game on SportsCenter, I don't even recognize the Wizards' home floor any more. To me, the design looked too much like the Hawks' home floor. I had to keep reminding myself that this was the same arena where I was a Hoyas ticketholder for 7 years.
Maybe I'll get used to it, right now it's hard. That and an 0-7 start with John Wall on your team... it just seems there is something rotten in Wizardland.

I like the new unis. Its Bullets-like.
Maybe the problem in Wizardland is John Wall, the guy who was supposed to be faster and better than Allen Iverson.

This may sound crazy but is it too early to consider John Wall as a bust? I always thought he was overrated but I'll admit I expected more from him at this point
Also taking into consideration efficiency, all-around stats, hard-work, attitude, maturity (on and off court) , rapid improvement and overall numbers, is Greg Monroe at this point and time the best player from the 2010 draft?

It's still too early to call him a bust IMO, MCI. He has had a terrible stretch, though. But it's also clear he has talent. Let's remember that he came out after his freshman year, and his coach and the talent around him suck. Give me Monroe any day!

watched the OKC game last night. Was expecting to by underwhelmed by Wall but he impressed me. He is excellent in the open floor (prob top three with the ball) rebounds well and does a decent job setting up teammates. Unfortunately the team around him makes things tougher. The one thing to note is he has yet to make a three pointer this season and doesnt even try to shoot threes. Sure Tony Parker doesnt either but he needs to work on this. However, thought he was pretty good defesnively and offensively.

I just finished watching Jeremy Lin destroy the Lakers. Was at the GU-Harvard game in 2009 and he had a decent game but no one could have expected this four-game run he has had.

First time I really enjoyed watching the Knicks since Ewing left. Lotsa fun to watch. Added bonus is that I despise Kobe and the Lakers. Kobe is all-world, of course, but I just love watching him jacking up a shot every time down and missing a few key ones. Of course, he didn't have a choice since he seemed to be the only one out there for the Lakers tonight - rest of the team was like the Walking Dead.

Linsanity!WOW. It took me until the 3rd Qtr of Lin's 4th breakout game before I realized it was on ESPN so I could catch this kid on TV, and vs the Lakers no less. If you have not yet seen this kid play, do yourself a favor and tune in! If there are any more like this in China, then JT3's trip with our Hoyas last summer may pay big time dividends for years to come. Hey! Hoyainspirit, Avantguardhoya... where are you guys? How come we haven't been hearing about this kid? He's a cantab for goodness sake! No kidding, scores 38 vs the Lakers at MSG tonight?!?! Beats the Lakers without Amare and Melo?!?!? Really... catch this kid while he's hot. I don't think anyone believes he'll keep it up at this rate, but his court vision, understanding the game, passing ability -- those aren't going away. Unbelievable what he did tonight. If he can play anywhere near this level, the Knicks will be a very exciting team. He fires up all of them. Gets guys the ball - in the right spot -- had 7 dimes tonight. I just watched him and I still can't believe it. Welcome to the NBA Mr. Lin!

You know who Jeremy Lin is? Charles Smith. Bench player to Superstar... over bleepin' night!
Oh, and the Knicks starting guards are from.... Harvard, and Stanford!

Not to rain on Lin-sanity--but I think I could drop double figures on Fisher/Blake. The Lakers are one of the worst rosters in NBA right now and why is it that Andrew Bynum--the youngest starter on team looked 100 years old tonight and brought no energy? Blow that team up and start over.
As for Lin-great story and example of taking advantage of opportunity when provided and just hope he doesn't have to change his game and be a spot shooter when ball stopping Carmelo Anthony returns.
