Uh, victory over Houston for the NC?
Duke and UNC wins were really nice, but come on. The Kentucky semifinal game trumps those as well.

I guess you have to put our NC and semi wins at the top, but I'm more interested in what comes after. Jeff's wins over ND and Vandy come to mind, as does Roy's 3-pointer over UConn. The victories over UNC and Duke, certainly.

1995. 104-60 over Morgan State. Jerry Nichols benched after 360-degree dunk late in the second half. That's my upset pick. My George Mason, if you will.

Hoyarooter you are so on the mark. That Kentucky game was perhaps the best of all. wore out the VHS tape playing it over the years. Other great games beating Maryland for the first time in many years was it 78 and then again in 80 in Philly. BET final against Cuse ot win in 84. don't forget the 70 to 40 thrashing of St Johns to start the BE season in 82 what was the start of that game 41 to 10

For losses but still great games... perhaps one of the best of all time the 82 loss in NO. and the 74-75 loss to Uconn in BET final in 96 a game played at as high a level for competition and execution that can recall witnessing.

Another one that is often forgotten was the annihilation of Oregon State (a team favored on a long winning streak) in the finals of the West Regional during Patrick's freshman year. The Championship game against UNC that same year was one of the best ever played, even though Gtown lost.

How do people land on the issue of including Great Games that Georgetown Lost. For me I do not include any game that Georgetown lost, but I'm sure other people differ. I just cannot consider any game we lost great.
Anyway some more suggestions:
The Sweater Game
Georgetown 62, West Virginia 61 1974-75 ECAC South Championship
Georgetown 97, Boston College 92 (OT) 1979-1980
Georgetown 63, Missouri 51 1981-82
1984 BET Championship win over Cuse
3OT game against Virginia in 2000
Georgetown's win over Arkansas in he 2001 NCAAs

Because HSB, they where big time games played at a very high level. notice i did not include the one point loss to Iowa in the regional final in Providence in 1980. Not a well played second half and thompsons worst bigtime coaching performance may have kept us from a national championship. But i do agree with you on the 8 point comeback in the last 1:30 against BC at the old Roberts Center in 1980.

December 1989 game against UDC 112-39. Would have been the biggest win of the JT2 era but UDC hit a three at the buzzer if I remember correctly. Their coach was high school friend of JT2.

Lichoya -- right you are; the 1980 Iowa regional final game was in Philly (Big East tourney was in Providence/with only seven teams -- sorta like we may end up with now), and Big Sky getting his hand caught in the net coming over to try to block what turned into a three point play (78-78 became 81-78) with about 5 seconds left was the front page Wash. Post sports section photo the next day (I still take that out when I want to get depressed -- a guy's version of listening to Norah Jones). The game before where we beat Maryland -- for the SECOND time that year (the first was the Driesell/Thompson near fight at the Armory) -- in the regional semi's of course a much brighter memory (as was watching Iowa beat Syracuse in the other semi, especially 'cause, of course, we figured beat Iowa handily). But for my money the Derrick Jackson jumper at the buzzer to beat WV in '75 in the ECAC championship game and propel us to our first NCAA since '43 and put us in a class where we could get a Shelton and Duren (and eventually Patrick) has to be RIGHT THERE for most significant (not most fun/rewarding/memorable, but most significant . . .)

Georgetown over NYU in the 1965-6 season on national TV. Probably first time for the Hoyas to be on TV and beating a national ranked NYU (I kid you not) before a crazy crowd in McD. Frank Hollandoaner scored a Hoya record 29 points in the first half to seal the rout. Also, we got some unwanted notoriety from the NY press after the game.
Also, of merit was our beating Loyola of Chicago, defending national champion and ranked #1 in 1963-4.

Did somebody mention trying to beat St. Joe's. The worst game of my era was a game at the Palestra vs St. Joe's. We thought we had a pretty good team in 1965-66 and were going to take it to St. Joe's. Wrong. The half ended with a St. Joe's player making a half court shot (no threes in those days) to up their lead to 25. The sad thing about this game, other than the beating, was half the students, who made the trip to Philly were late due to the closure of the main road due to fog. We left DC early, so we made it to the game, but the other half, arrived there at half time. Maybe they were the lucky ones.
