Hopefully televised.

I think it has to be televised. The only reason left for the NITs existence is for there to be games to put on TV before the NCAAs...right?
That's why they match you up against some other big name program who had a down year...either that or a Davidson type team with a stellar record. It's all about TV...so it would be weird if it wasn't on.

I think about half the NIT games are televised.
Good luck finding seedings or any sort of "if we win then we'll play who" chart. The NIT is mysterious...all of a sudden there's just four teams left and they play in NYC.

I think that estimate may be a bit high. All of the later round games are televised, but in the first two rounds, I think about 10 games will be televised. I would say, though, that if a first round game is GU v. Twerps, that game is a lock to be televised.

If Green had hit it, would it have been payback for '96, when Ray Allen had 38 minutes of crappy play and managed to barely rattle one in on the last shot? TC, did you catch the Ray Allen spot on TV during the game? He said he made his move across the foul circle, was guarded closely, went up in the air, decided to pass to a teammate in the right corner but then Jerome stuck out a long arm into the passing lane so he had no choice but to take the shot himself, coming down, off-balance. It hit the rim and the blackboard and went in. I wish he had never reminded me of that "shot."

Right now I'm imagining a grinning JTIII bursting through my office wall with a giant pitcher of kool aid...just like in the commercials. Ahhh, March Madness... Haha that's AWESOME. Well played. Anyway, not sure if this was posted (busy day at work) but did everyone see Ashanti's quote in the Post about the last shot: "I just missed it," said Cook, who finished with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. "It felt like it was going in; I was on my way down to the other end, thinking it was going in. But it bounced out." It didn't make me feel much better, but it's at least interesting to note. Cuse ALL OVER the Huskies.... I DO NOT LIKE THIS

I didn't finish watching the game until Friday night, so I am a little late to this discussion, but I would like to add my thoughts on the three plays that seem to be considered most critical to our loss.
1. Owens misses the front end of a 1 and 1. So what? Guys miss free throws occasionally. Rudy Gay missed the front end of a 1 and 1 that gave us a chance to tie or win, and Josh Boone air balled a free throw about two minutes before. Is it ok for the other team to blow free throws, but not for us? And don't forget the big three Owens hit to pull us within two.
2. Ashanti dribbles the ball off his foot and out of bounds. I replayed this play a couple times. It did not appear to be that Ashanti was careless in any way. This just looked like one of those unfortunate, oddball plays that occur once in a while. Len Elmore seemed to feel the same way. It was unfortunate to lose a possession (our second turnover of the half!), but I would hardly hang Ashanti in effigy over this play.
3. And that brings us to the final shot. It was not a bad shot, and was the type of shot Ashanti has been known to make. However...you have to go for the win in this situation. We had a 40% three point shooter (ok, 39%) standing in one of his favorite spots with no one within a zip code of him. You have to give him the ball. Friday night, Cal State Northridge was 2 down to Pacific with time winding down, and one of their guys shot a 3. He shot an air ball, but it was still the right play. The same guy had made two 3's in the previous two minutes, from pretty much the same spot. So this I would call an [E R R O R] in judgment.

The NIT is mysterious...all of a sudden there's just four teams left and they play in NYC. I agree with you, but I did note on the NIT website last night that they already have a "2005" bracket set up with the correct 2005 dates, sp maybe there is hope for us to be able to track a bracket this year.
