Heartbreak. But I don't know if I've ever been so proud of the Hoyas. But Ashanti, how did you miss Green? Wide open for the win. Oh man, painful. I need a beer.

one of my friends just called and said the same thing...
I personally would have run a play for Owens...he's been the 'Money-Man' the past two nights...

What happened, what happened? Just got home and saw the final, Hoyas losing by 4. Did we have a chance to win.

Did we have a chance to win. down by two, with the ball with about 20 seconds left to go... we had multiple chances down the stretch...missed opportunities... but you would have been very proud of their performance tonight...

We were down 2 with the clock running down and Ashanti starts to penetrate from the wing and pulls up for a fade away jumper while Jeff Green was wide open.
However, I refuse to be one of those fans who jumps on Ashanti for missing the pass. He carried us the whole night and this team showed me a lot tonight. That was the fight that we were seeing earlier in the year and seemed to disappear down the stretch. We got it back in the BET and I'm still holding out hope that I'll see the Hoyas on the screen come Sunday.

Ashanti Cook was brutal at the end of that game. Dribbling the ball out of bounds WITH NO ONE ON YOU! And then that awful shot when Green, the best player on the team, is open from the top. 2 dumb plays that reminded me of the Esherick era. God Bless Coach Thompson. He did so much this year withotu much talent(Outside the young'ns.).

Thanks, guys, that helps. I will hang around for more commentary. It sounds as if the Hoyas played their hearts out today; of that I am proud of them.

Green was way out on the NBA three. What is his three point percentage anyway? 35%? And he was dreadful all night on offense. But I am playing devil's advocate- it was the no-brainer pass Cook had to make, don't know what he was thinking.

bin he also had already hit a long range three tonight though - i would still have picked him to take that shot 9 times out of 10 to take that shot rather than ashanti's off-balanced jumper

Green was wide open at the NCAA line. NO brainer. No sweat on Ashanti though. He likes that shot and he hit a ton in the game.
I just wish someone would have shot a 3. No way we want to go to OT in this one. Just one shining moment chance.
Oh well. Hopefully the committee watched the game and thinks the HOyas are deserving.
Great effort by the Hoyas tonight. I'm very proud to be a Hoya tonight. Great game and great effort. If someone told be down by 2 with the ball and 20 seconds to go I would died and gone to heaven.
Give JTIII a TON of credit tonight. Great coaching,

Yeah I said the pass to Green was a no-brainer, in exactly those words. But I saw a freeze frame of it and Green was waiting for the pass clearly in NBA three territory, something we did all night long.

This wasn't Ashanti's fault. We should have won this game by playing fundamentally sound basketball. We should have gone and attacked the rim - it was ours for the taking but instead we're afraid of contact. UCONN knew that and exploited it. They pretty much doubled us up on the boards...

OK. Either way I'd rather have Green shoot from NBA in that scenario. We have to go for the win.
Oh well. No worries. Great game and effort. I loved the balls on this team. We had no business coming back like that.
JTIII was the man. Totally calm and coaching the team.
I think I saw JTII shed a tear at the end...

Seriously green deserves as much blame for losing this game as Cook. Green was awful for the first half- really bad.

Fantastic effort by the guys. That was a fun comeback, I think this team has a great future. I am disappointed that they will miss the tournament, but they deserve a lot of respect for the season and that game. Let's take the NIT now. GU just lost to the team I think will win it all.

While I don't think UConn will make the Final Four, I do think they are a very tough, capable team, and one that plays to a lot of our weaknesses. The fact that we had a chance to win gives me hope for the future and also leaves me bewildered about losing to Providence and St. John's.

He wasn't terrible, he had some great blocks and defended pretty well in the paint, I thought. His offense was off, but his legs have looked tired for a lot of the last third of the season, in my opinion, because of all of the minutes he's been playing.
I also don't think the fact that he was standing at the NBA line means he would have shot from there - he had plenty of room to step into a college 3, as nobody was within 15 feet of him.
I think the game was lost on the consecutive possessions where DJ missed the front end and Ashanti dribbled off his foot. But I'd have loved for us to get a shot to win it. When you're the underdog, take the shot to win, not tie. You may never get a chance to win in OT, but we had a shot to win in regulation, and I like going for it that way in that scenario.

GU just lost to the team I think will win it all. As much as I love this Illini team, for the last 2 weeks I've been inching toward the same opinion (assuming Villanueva and Gay show up).
