Though most people see it as a negative, one of the nice advantages of the offense as constituted is that while it can accomodate a PG (Wright, for example), it doesn't need one. Neither Wallace nor Cook nor Sapp were prototypical points and all were much more combo guards. If the player can defend point, handle a bit and shoot, we can find a place for them. Good point SF. I just like having the option of when a play breaks down, there is a guy on the floor whose handle is good enough and he is savvy enough to break down the D and look for others first, instead of shooting first. We have not had that in a long while. CW could always get to the lane, except he was not looking to dish. But agree on the part about a guy that could bring it up, space the floor, and defend the position.

So do I, dynasty. But of all the major teams in college basketball, we're one of the better ones to handle it.

We also need someone (preferably more than one person) who is able to capably break a press. That doesn't necessarily have to be a point guard, but the point guard is the player most likely to have the handle for it.

Georgetown and Villanova were at Hart's game last night, a loss to a highly rated, but underwhelming Landon team. Hart opened up the game with an impressive drive and two handed dunk in traffic, but got in foul trouble early and spent most of the game on the bench. Ended up with 14 and 12. Sidwell lost by 3 in a game that they definitely should have won without Hart in foul trouble.

Kenya Hunter, JTIII and Dalonte Hill were in the building to watch Hart tonight at Sidwell.
Hart's team blew a 21-0 lead after one quarter and lost in Double OT. Hart made two shots with less than 5 seconds to go, one in regulation and one in OT to extend the game.
Hart finished with 28 points and 27 boards.

What time do they play tomorrow? I think it's a tournament.

2:30 tomorrow. It'll be a throw away game. Then again, they were up 21-0 after one tonight and lost, so who knows.

Ok sorry still, 27 boards is an eye-popping stat even for a 7'0" athletic freak!

I'm going to go see him but I couldn't today. Heard he was like 6'3 to 6'4. Maybe a tad bit bigger than Freeman.

www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2011-1129/three-lead-for-13-sidwell-friends-josh-hart/One player expected to have a big season is Class of 2013 shooting guard Josh Hart of Sidwell Friends. While his name does not currently hold a lot of clout nationally, that will likely change in the coming months. Many in the DC-area have been singing his praises and a strong summer on the AAU trail last July with Team Takeover DC has certainly pushed his profile among college coaches much higher than it was previously. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Hart listed Georgetown, Penn State, NC State, Pitt, Xavier, Virginia, St. Joe’s and Indiana off the top of his head as some of the schools that came by this fall to watch him work out. With scholarship offers from the likes of Georgetown, Penn State, VCU, Xavier, NC State, UMass and Penn, Hart told NBE that currently three schools are standing out to him. “Georgetown, Penn State [and] VCU,” replied Hart when asked if there were any favorites or leaders in his recruitment. .. some video from Wilson and Landen games, #3 in the orange shoes:

Not sure what to think. Allen, you know better than anyone. But the level of competition in those two games looked pretty weak. A lot of play well under the rim.
I hope Josh is a backup plan at this point.

DC competition is DC competition. These are some of the same schools Markel played against, as well as pretty much the whole All-Met team. That being said, I hope he is a backup plan as well.

Ranch, we said the same thing about Greg Whittington....lol Speak for yourselves, I was pro Whittington all the way and a guy like Hart is going to have to beat out other guys for a spot. Why return to "tweener" recruiting? Aim for best players you can get that are big/skilled and if Hart were a PG, then I'd gladly take him. Guys like Hart are dime a dozen in recruiting. Can find one down your block. 6'4 athletes, who play on wing. Not hard to find.

I don't know anything about Hart, so this speaks little to him... but if you are going to take projects/players who haven't faced competition, etc., make sure they have size. Whit is 6'8" and playing SG. That's a risk worth taking.

And make sure they know where they're going to sit on the bench and that they don't have a problem with bench-warming, recruiting over, etc...

as a two-guard or point, 6'4 is big for college. He may be being groomed as a combo.

Yeah, 6'4" certainly isn't small for a 2. Now a 3, that's a different story. DSR is small for a 2. This guy wouldn't be.
6'8" isn't exactly your average sized 2. There aren't that many Icemen running around.
