I don't think a kid has ever not signed with a school because they didn't offer a certain major. But no Georgetown doesn't offer those. Although to do real serious sports medicine you'd have to go to medical school and Georgetown has a great pre-med program.

As an aside, Yates has some sick talent. Texas is incredible in the amount of depth in talent across the board.

kids say one thing but the bottom line is almost always something else. People tend to forget that when commenting on why or how come the hoyas don't get this guy or that guy. The tendency is to blame the staff for not going in hard enough or staying in the "evaluating stage" of a kid. Truth is, most of these kids aren't controlling the process.
Not speaking about Dotson particularly, but HS recruiting in general.

Is it just that they rely on "advisers" which in most cases mean AAU coaches and maybe a parent and the advisers basically are on somebody's (an agent, or a coach or someone) payroll w/ their job being to get the kids to certain institutions?

In my experience there are always handlers around, especially the big time kids. In alot of cases kids are pre-destined to go to a certain school for one reason or another. Not necessarily payroll per se, but inducements from one party to the disadvantaged party. As the herd mentioned this am, how could reggie bush's parents afford to go to all of the USC away games? Flight, car rental, tix, food, lodging...c'mon now. I think the blame is spread across many people on different levels.

Had to bump this thread after watching him tonight vs UNLV. Had 19 points and the game-winner for Oregon.
Very, very, very impressive and it seems the early scouting reports on him were correct. Definitely a name to remember. Has the look of a future pro.

He looked fantastic. Would have been great as a Hoya. Best of luck to him.

Definitely a name to remember. Has the look of a future pro. It was depressing seeing him do what he did tonight and Semaj Christon light it up for 18 pts and 23 pts on back to back nights. Not just scoring either--but creating offense and being athletic defender. Oh well, can't win them all and won't win these type of guys over until they see the Hoyas truly commit to a more attacking style.

Wrong thread for this, but wasn't Semaj more a recruiting screw up than anything else? Seemed like Semaj originally preferred us, and nearly everyone preferred him over DSR except the staff.
