write up from Rankin/ESPN this weekend..
2012, SF, 6-5, 181 pounds The versatile and very athletic wing played with great energy and urgency every second he was on the floor. Dotson can not only play all three perimeter positions, he can easily defend them as well. Dotson can handle and pass on the move, get to the rim and finish above it on the break and hit a number of 3s in a row -- though he can be a bit streaky. He is the glue guy on his team and his upside is scary. Dotson has a good hoop body already and great frame to add strength to. If he can perform at this level on a consistent basis, watch out. Dotson said he has offers from Oregon, Colorado, Texas Tech, Georgetown, TCU, Dayton and Arkansas.

2 other write ups from this weekend: C2C Recruiting: coast2coastrecruiting.net/2011/10/houston-super-16-recap/Damyean Dotson (2012 guard): Dotson will be the senior leader for Yates this year. He showed all weekend that any big scoring runs would go through him. Dotson is a good ball handler and a better passer. He has a good shot and he can bury the 3. Dotson is working on becoming more consistent with his shot and on the defensive end. At 6’5 he wants to play point guard in college. He is being recruited by: Texas Tech, Colorado, TCU, Dayton, Arkansas, Oregon, and Georgetown. CourtCred: courtcred.com/all-ball-items/item/2179-super-16-extravaganza.htmlDamyean Dotson 6'6 Sr. SG Yates HS Dotson spent his summer with a Houston Hoops team that featured three high major guards, but he was the glue that kept the machine together. Fast forward to him and the floor with his high school team and you see a blossoming prospect. The 6'6 guard can play and guard all three guard spots with no problem. He was explosive, getting the home crowd on their feet with dunk after dunk after one of his many steals. The fact that he is a good shooter has been over looked. Dotson's ability to hurt you from deep only opens it up for him to slash his way to the cup. In transition he threw lobs and bounce passes with accuracy, and he knew when to stop and pull up to avoid charges. Oregon and Texas Tech are coming after him hard, but line is Dotson is a high major sleeper.

No biggie allen. The fact that this kid can play and defend all three guard spots is impressive and intriguing. Don't know how late GU is on him, if at all, but he shoots to the top of my wish list. His size, length and athleticism seemingly are sick. He's apparently a late bloomer and the schools on him now shouldn't be daunting to overcome, however, it's always tough to get kids outta Texas.
This kid is an athlete. I know this from watching Yates play last year vs. Butler HS in Alabama that featured HM Trevor Lacy. They ran them outta the gym and constantly shuffled 10 guys in and out. It was a frantic pace, yet it worked well for Yates.

Interesting indeed. Would like to know how seriously involved we are with him (hoping seriously!) sounds/looks like a good find. Hope the staff has picked up their interest

This kid sounds like a dream come true out of nowhere. Good size, good skills, athleticism, glue kid - what's not to like? He sounds like a better prospect than a 6'1" shooting guard.

Bronxitos looks around cautiously before speaking. Do not like his tapes. Not athletic enough. Great passer though. D_ N_ _ W_ _ _ _

Man, I wish I had the talent to draw conclusions about a recruit's athleticism, future success, or lack thereof from youtube videos.

Highlight films are the worst possible way to evaluate a player. I would rather have nothing than an AAU highlight film.
I guess if he puts together a dunk contest mix tape, then we offer him.

that 2nd clip is older. He sure looks more athletic in the first video (Which was from last weekend)
some kids physically progress later than others...Jabril comes to mind. If we saw him no more than 6 months before his name surfaced, he wouldn't have looked athletic enough, either.
not saying it's the same case with Dotson, but based on reports..it seems possible.

from what Sniff saw at the Rumble in the Bronx (Bronxie loves the Bronx) kid did not appear to be athletic. Do not care what others say from what I saw he was very athletically limited. Again this is judging from the Rumble in the BX tape. Will check for more recent tapes as was suggested.

2nd video he appears to be finishing above the rim with vim and vigor and he looks to be more athletic than he did in the BX. Need to see more of his newer stuff (New Damyean DJ Clue Voice) before a true judgement can be made. Dr. Bronxitos over and out.
