One hopes the location (Washington) indicates that Georgetown is leading this discussion.

Pray to St Anthony (patron saint for lost things) to help the BE find it's lost prestige by having ND and the academies come on over!

Are the Presidents of Syracuse and Pitt joining for at least some of the discussions? Seriously, the best result would be a renegotiation of the entire Big East arrangement in a way that is attractive enough for Pitt and Syracuse to stay and renege on their commitment to the ACC, and which ensures long-term viability of the leaugue. It is not too late to undo this mess and come out with something stronger than before. The non-football schools need to be prepared to give something up to the football schools, but considering the alternatives they should be prepared to do that.

Need to threaten to sue ESPN for bad faith. They are intentionally promoting destablization of the Big East in order to increase their leverage over conference football and basketball contracts. They have a huge conflict of interest which they never mention while all their pundits take the pro-ACC line that serves the company's interests.

They should invite them, then let them sit out in the reception area until the meeting is over. They are gone, and in the words of 'vadi, they should be dead to us. While money is, of course, a factor for all, it is the sole factor for Syracuse and Pitt - not their players, their fans, nothing but the money. We could never count on them to stay around the next time someone waves more $$$ in their faces. Good bye and good riddance.

A nice thought, but it would never work, and would poison whatever relationship the conference has with ESPN for the next 2 seasons, not to mention where it goes from there. A cursory glance at this board and all of the other BE school boards/forums over the last couple of weeks makes it clear that the ESPN "experts" are not the only ones questioning the stability of the conference going forward, many with much more hysteria than any media experts. The best strategy would be to figure out how to not only stabilize, but even strengthen the future position of the conference, and use that as leverage in negotiations with ESPN AND other options such as NBC/Versus, FoxSports, etc. Not to suggest it would be easy, or even that it is realistic, but complaining about being badmouthed ain't gonna serve us for our future.

The firat item on the agenda should be to remove Marinatto. West Virginia, UConn, Rutgers and any other football schools looking to go elsewhere will want to keep him in place to assure the weakness of the conference leadership as long as possible.

The problem with the comments from coaches is that they aren't the ones making the decisions. If it were up to the basketball coaches, Syracuse and Pittsburgh would have never joined the ACC.
